(Sophia, NC): Caraway Speedway hosted the 13th Annual Rusty Harpe Memorial last night honoring the memory of the former track Champion. All the PRA Tours were in action plus the tracks U-Car division.
In the feature event for the PRA Tours new Super Late Model Division, Jared Fryar returned the family name to the historic speedway’s winners circle. Fryar held off Kodie Connor and early leader, Brandon Ward, to claim the win in the first PRA Tours Super Late Model event. Gil Linster and Toni Breidnger rounded out the top five spots.
Two-time and defending Southern Modified Racing Series Champion, Jeremy Gerstner, drove his Shady Grady Racing modified to the pole position in Precision Built Spindles qualifying and buried the field in the 75 lap SMRS feature for tour-type modifieds. Gerstner battled past early leader, Burt Myers, and stormed to a straightaway win over John Smith. Burt Myers finished third followed by Gary Putnam and Jason Myers. Tom Buzze, Jr., Tim Brown, SMRS newcomer, Bussy Beavers, Trey Hutchens, Brandon Ward, Bobby Measmer, Jr. and Jimmy Wallace completed the rundown.
Lee Jeffreys claimed his first win in 602 Modified competition holding of a hard charging Tommy Neal and Deal Lowder to notch the victory. Bobby Measmer, Jr. and Kirk Sheets completed the top five.
Logan Boyett outran a strong field of 602 Super Limiteds to earn the win for that division. Boyett slipped past early leader, Grayson Ward and held off fast qualifier Austin Harris and a fast closing Chase Robertson at the finish. Matt Henley and Bill Cantania rounded out the top five.
Mack Little made it five-for-five in 2019 to take the win in the Southeast Limited Late Model 75 lapper.
Thomas Chappel took top honors in the Southeast Limit Late Model Challenger feature. Joey Phillips, Wesley Hawkins, William Gunter and Nick Brand rounded out the top five.
Fast qualifier, Justin Smith, took the win in the Caraway Speedway U-CAR Division. He was followed by Johnny Ware, Gregory Williams, Jason Richmond and Sammy Price.
