The finest stars and cars of the region roared into Wake County Speedway Friday night and Goldsboro native Clay Jones doubled down and won both Solid Rock Late Model Stock Car feature's.
In the first feature, Willow Spring driver Randy Renfrow was leading until a competition Click-It- Or- Ticket caution bunched the field back up, Renfrow broke a valve spring on the restart and Jones passed Renfrow for the victory. Renfrow finished in second spot followed by Caleb Day, Garner in 3rd place. "Shotgun" Miller from Apex came home in 4th followed by Daniel Vuncannon, Fuquay- Varina rounding out the top 5 positions.
Clay grabbed the nightcap feature as well holding off Fuquay- Varina speedster Cory Walker, Caleb Day, Garner with Zack Marks, Angier and the #19 Hobbs machine completed the top 5 places. Jones and his family celebrated in Capital Chevy victory lane to top off a great evening of racing.
The Capps Motorsports Modified 4 Cylinder feature was a wild affair and when the checkered flag flew Justin Marsan visited Capital Chevy victory lane. Randy Ayers, Lucama ran a great race to come home in 2nd place followed by Dennis Capps, Garner with Scotty Potter and Kevin Jeffreys rounding out the top 5 positions.
The Hocutt's Automotive 4 Cylinder feature winner was track champ, T.J. Dillon who held offJeremy Ottaway to score the "W", followed by car #4 and #53.
The Southern Ground Pounders Touring Series made a special appearance with Garner speedster Todd Langdon in his beautiful Olds 442 taking down the Sportsman victory with Dwight "Cowboy" Sauls from Apex nailing down a trip to victory lane in his beautiful coach. The #05 Coupe and #3 rounded out the top 4 positions.
The INEX Bandolero winner was Cameron Murray from Fuquay-Varina who travels south this week to both Charlotte and Atlanta for races and national points.
The INEX Legends feature winner was car #10, followed by #29, #24 Mason Diaz from Va. with Billy Hall #30 rounding out the top 4 places. Race fans pray for Jim D. Barbee, we lost our sweet Melanie Merritt Jones from Jonesy's Concessions Saturday morning, R.I.P. sweet, kind lady.
