(Lucama, NC): Jeremy Gerstner showed the rear bumper of the “Shady Grady Racing” Modified to the field tonight at Southern National Motorsports Park, taking the win in the featured Southern Modified Racing series (SMRS) event on the .400 mile high-banked track.
Gerstner won the Precision Built Spindles Pole Award in qualifying edging Bobby Measmer, Jr. for the top spot. John Smith, Tom Buzze, Jr. and Chris Finocchario rounded out the top five. Gerstner jumped to the point on the start and while SMRS newcomer, Finocchario, traded the top spot twice in the early going, was never really challenged in the 75 lap sprint. Measmer, Jr. made one run at the leader after Finocchario exited with transmission problems, but had to settle for second spot at the finish ahead of Buzze, Burt Myers, Tim Brown, Smith and Finocchario.
Jacob Creed took advantage of a late race restart to slip ahead of Alex Fleming to claim the win in the 602 Super Limited 60 lapper. Fleming recovered to finish second with Amber Lynn nipping at his rear bumper in third. Carson Ware finished fourth and Bill Cantania rounded out the top five. Matt Henley finished sixth with Chase Robertson, David Creed, Fletcher Whaley, Austin Harris and Kyle Campbell rounding out the field. Cantania won a $75.00 cash award form Pro Tech 8 Gloves. Pro Tech manufacturers high quality protective gloves for pit crews and firefighters across the USA.
Bobby Measmer, Jr. driving the Ron McKee owned 602 Modified, took the Precision Spindles Pole Award then followed that up with a convincing win in the 35 lap feature for the division. Robbie Brewer took second spot in the rundown ahead of Caraway winner, Dean Lowder, Richard Trotter, Jeremy Gerstner and Jody Utt. Trotter was the winner of the Pro Tech 8 Award for the 602 Modifieds.
Mack Little kept up his winning ways by taking the win in the 75 lap feature for the South East Limited Late Models (SELLM) Pro division. Little led early before giving way to a hard charging Ross “Boo Boo” Dalton who led much of the middle part of the event. Little charged back to the point with 25 laps remaining and never looked back. Dalton finished second with Adam Murray, Chris Chapman, Chris Elliot, Ryan Rackley and Riley Lanther rounding out the field.
Wayne Goss took the top spot in the SELLM Challenger 30 lapper. Goss outdistanced Michael Obrien, Carter Langley, Bobby Morris, Anthony Miller and Gerald Benton.
Patrick Arch took advantage of the early race misfortunes of fastest qualifier, A.J. Sanders as he drove through the field to take the win in the 50 lap feature for the Carolina Vintage Mini Stocks. Arch held off a fast closing Brandon Clements to take the checkered flag. Chris Hetu finished third. Sanders recovered form a lap one mishap to finish fourth ahead of Aaron Champion, Justin Owens, Jessie Jones and Joseph Pittman. Duane Walker rounded out the field.
