The finest stars and cars of Wake County Speedway were awarded the spoils of victory at the America Legion in Fuquay- Varina. Drivers, Car Owner's and Team Members enjoyed a night of great food, fun and comradery as trophies were given out to the top 5 in points plus gift bags from Accent Imaging and door prizes from Loop Road Auto Parts and other great sponsors.
Your 2018 Track Champion in the Late Model Division, Eric Winslow from Pelham received the big hardware and thanked his Family and crew sharing the stage with his mama Sandra, his grandfather Bobby, crew and Miss Wake County Speedway. Angier speedster Zach Marks finished the season with a strong 2nd place in points, Will Roland from Sanford finished third with "Showtime" Sammy Pacitti, Angier and Stephen Ford, Angier rounding out your top 5 finishers.
The fans love the Bombers and a great season of action saw Chad Williams from Angier roaring home in first place. Williams celebrated with his daddy, his wife and his son creating memories, you rock Spiderman! Kris Sherer, Adrian Stich, Steven Best and Bill Rinaldo rounded out your top 5 in points. Dennis "The Dominator" Capps bought the Pro 4 Modified division back to WCS, sponsoring the season through Capps Motorsports and was rewarded with the Track Championship. "Big Daddy" Tim Wilder from Franklinton came home in 2nd place with Darrell Haynie from Raleigh in 3rd followed by Kevin Jefferys from Angier and Keith Oliver.
The 600 racing Legends and Bandoleros put on great show's through out the season with Cameron Murray from Fuquay-Varina capping off a great season to win the Bandolero Championship with Raleigh's Jacob O'Neal scoring 2nd place in points at season's end. Josh Speas from Cabarrus finished 3rd with the Bradley brothers, Kaleb in 4th place and Jacob Bradley in 5th place. The Legends Champion, Jason Austin from Raleigh grabbed the brass ring while Zack Brown from Holly Springs nailed down a strong 2nd place finish. Mason Ford from Angier, Chris Byerly from Trinity and Emily Day from Garner rounded out the top 5 places.
The Hocutt's Four Cylinder Champion, T.J.Dillon from Fuquay- Varina held off hard charging Don Frantz of Cary to win the 2018 Championship. Chuckie Barbour from Clayton, Jeremy Ottaway from Raleigh and Michael Woodard from Raleigh finished in 3rd through 5th place. The David Champion Sportsman award is given each year to a different individual who goes all out for, fans, competitors, alway's rising above the status quo to set a great example, this years winner is Zack Brown, congrats Zack and Mr.Brown. Race fans we loss Ms. Ginger Pleasant last week and this column is dedicated in her memory. Glenn and Talmadge Simpkins owned the track but Deborah and her right hand woman, Ginger ran the speedway for 20 plus years before Adam Resnick promoted it 6 years ago, R.I.P. Ginger.
