SWANSBORO, NC – Super Truck racing will headline Saturday night’s Summer Jam at Carteret County, and track regular Chris Burns is looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a truck.
The Swansboro, North Carolina driver is second in Late Model points, but has experience racing in trucks in the past. This weekend, he will once again run a truck in hopes of visiting victory lane for the first time since April.
“I’m excited to get back in a truck,” Burns said. “I love the way they look and they are a blast to drive. We ran a couple truck races years ago at Myrtle Beach and Dillon. I think it would be an awesome class to bring to Carteret County Speedway multiple times a yesar to put on an awesome show for the fans.”
Saturday night’s race will be the first time the Late Model Super Trucks have raced at Carteret County Speedway.
The USAC Eastern Midgets will also race on Saturday night. Andrew Layser leads Alex Bright in the Eastern Midgets standings. In 2016, Jessica Bean became the first woman to win a race at Carteret County Speedway in the USAC Eastern Midgets. She comes in as the reigning series champion.
Jeff Melton is among the MASS Street Stock regulars who will face off with James Horner and other track regulars in the $1,000-to-win Street Stock race on Saturday night. Mini Cups, Jr. Mini Cups and Mini-Stocks will also be in action on Saturday night.
In the Mini-Stock division, the points battle has tightened in recent weeks with Travis Miller now holding a slim four-point advantage over Stephen Sanders. Sanders has been traveling from the Winston-Salem area to race each week and will race this weekend at Carteret County Speedway and East Carolina Motor Speedway on the same night, a feat he has accomplished multiple times this season.
Qualifying will commence at 5pm and the green flag will fly at 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, kids 10 and under free. Boy Scouts who show up in uniform will get in for $5.
