Willie Milliken Sweeps Late Model Doubleheader Weekend At Lake View

- For Immediate Release

LAKE VIEW, SC (June 2) – Roanoke Rapids, NC’s Willie Milliken completed a doubleheader weekend sweep Saturday night at Lake View Motor Speedway to claim his third straight Late Model win of the season.   Milliken dominated on both Friday and Saturday nights to further establish himself as the driver to beat here early in the season.
On Saturday night, Milliken, known as   “The Wild Child” in dirt track racing circles, blistered the 3/8-mile speedway with a hot lap of 17.29 seconds to claim the pole position over former track champion, Roger Dale Hammond.   Milliken went to the front at the start, while Zach Blackwell jumped to the outside in turn 1 to take second position.   Milliken dominated to take the win over Blackwell, Hammond, Steven Blanton, and Johnny Pridgen.
The story was much the same on Friday night as Milliken started on the pole and led flag-to-flag to take the win over Dustin Mitchell, Pridgen, Brian Strickland, and Johnathon Ward.   For his weekend efforts, Milliken took home $2400 for winning both races.
In the Open Wheel Modified division, “The High Side Tickler,” Kyle Strickler made his first trip to Lake View a memorable win as he took the win.   The start was slowed by an opening lap incident in turn three that saw contact between David Taylor and Slade Parsons.   Strickler would take the $1000 win over Ryan Ayers, Andy Boahn, Timmy Blackwell, and Jordan Taylor.
The Pure Stock division ran Twin 15’s Saturday night.   In the first twin, Chandler Fowler took his first win of the season over Martin Sweatt, and Cameron Norris, III.   In twin two, drivers drew for their starting positions with Tony Williams, III starting from the pole.   On the final lap, Williams was tagged from behind by Sam Hardee as they came to the checkered flag.   Williams spun as the leaders crossed the finish line and Hardee was able to get the win by .0099 seconds.   Chandler Fowler finished third, followed by Jeffrey Batten and Michael Butler.
Chris Powers just edged out Cameron Norris, IV to take his first Super Street win of the season over Benji Thompson, Greg Cain, and Scott Lewis.
In Friday night action, the 602 Open Wheel Modifieds made their first ever start at Lake View Motor Speedway and Hank Taylor took the checkered flag in front of Buck Stevens, Jason Wallace, Matt Hope, and Jesse Rockett.
Kevin Weatherford got the advantage at the start over his brother, Chris, to take the 4 Cylinder win.   Chris Weatherford would finish second, followed by Pete Brew, Chris Gerald, and Greg Brew.
And, in the U-Car feature, it appeared “Joker Style” Kyle Jenks was on his way to first career win, but “Rowdy” Richard Seals got a run coming to the finish to take the win over Jenks, Bradley Cooper, Joey Wilkes, and Andrew Rowell.
Lake View Motor Speedway will be in action again on Saturday night, June 16 with the Sandra Miller Memorial Twin 19’s for the Late Models as well as racing for the Super Street, Pure Stock, 4-Cylinders, and U-Cars.   Be sure to “Like” the Lake View Motor Speedway on Facebook to keep up on all that’s going on in 2018 or visit lakeviewmotorspeedway.com.
