Lena Mae Lucas wife of Nick Lucas for 51 years died this past Monday. Services were held this afternoon at Grand Strand Baptist Church which sits on the corner of Myrtle Beach Speedway. It was back in 1968 that Nick Lucas and Lena Mae bought the then named Rambi Raceway a half mile dirt track and over the years ran under NASCAR sanction as both a dirt and later as an asphalt facility. They took partners Billy Hardee and his wife Phyliss and held the track until 2011 selling the historic track to now owner Bob Lutz. For those of you have been around the sport for a longtime, I thought you may well remember her and would like to know of her passing. she was quite a business women with many successful ventures in Myrtle Beach.
