Big Month Of May For PASS Continues At Oxford, Concord, & Thunder Road

- For Immediate Release

NAPLES, ME (May 8) – For racers and fans across the United States, the month of May is huge.   And it’s no different for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS), which will feature the best in Super Late Model racing throughout the remainder of the month.
Following a hard fought and exciting race this past Saturday night at Star Speedway for the PASS North Super Late Models which saw Travis Benjamin take the win over Reid Lanpher, the series regulars will get a much deserved weekend off.   But, PASS North will return to action on Sunday, May 20 for their second visit of the season to Oxford Plains Speedway for the Honey Badger Bar & Grill 150.   Waterboro, ME’s Curtis Gerry will look to continue his dominance of the legendary oval as his competitors look for the key to winning as they prep for August’s $25,000 to win Oxford 250.
So far this season, there have been three different winners in the first four PASS North Super Late Model events.   PASS young gun Derek Griffith captured the checkered flag at Thompson Speedway in the season opener, while Gerry took back-to-back wins at Oxford Plains and Beech Ridge.   With his win last weekend at Star, former champions, Benjamin and DJ Shaw, are locked in a heated battle for the PASS North points lead.
As PASS North looks ahead to Oxford Plains on May 20, the best short trackers in the south are anticipating their next on track action coming up at the ultra-fast Concord Speedway in North Carolina.   Memorial Day weekend is always big in the Charlotte area and will kickoff in earnest on Friday night, May 25 with a big night of racing at Concord Speedway, headlined by the PASS South Super Late Models and Southern Modified Racing Series (SMRS) Tour-type Modifieds, along with the popular MASS Street Stocks and Challenger cars.
Two-time defending PASS South champion, Matt Craig, has a 34-point lead over surprising challenger, Canadian JP Josiasse.   Championship contenders, Kodie Conner, Tate Fogleman, Roy Hayes, and Jeff Batten are all looking to make up ground on Craig, while Jared Irvan, Gracie Trotter, Chad McCumbee, and Corey Heim will look to challenge for the win.   Additionally, PASS South drivers will be very visible in Charlotte over the week with several appearing on Thursday afternoon for autographs at Speed Street and on local TV leading up to the race.
And, if that’s not enough, the PASS North Super Late Models will conclude Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, May 27 at the Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Vermont, along with Thunder Road’s ACT Late Models, as part of the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic.
It all begins with practice on Saturday, May 19 at Oxford Plains Speedway.   Then, on Sunday, May 20 practice will begin at 10 AM and heat races slated to begin at 2 PM.
The following week, action will begin on Thursday, May 24 at Concord Speedway with rotating practice for all divisions.   On Friday, May 25, qualifying begins at 5 PM, followed by features for the PASS South Super Late Models, SMRS Tour-Modifieds, MASS Street Stocks, and Challengers set to start at 7 PM.
PASS Super Late Model entry forms for Oxford Plains Speedway, Concord Speedway, Thunder Road International Speedbowl, Petty International Raceway, and Speedway 95, along with the 45th Annual Oxford 250, can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.
The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, and in October, the inaugural Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway.   For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.   For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.   And, don’t forget to “Like” the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.
