I made it to DR last night. It was my first ever visit to the track. I had planned to go two or three times last year, and this year, but weather and other circumstances prevented me from going. It is a beautiful facility with many amenities for fan enjoyment. I had read and heard a lot about it, but it certainly met my expectations and more. Twenty three cars started the 150 lap race. Local drivers as well as visitors made for a very healthy field of cars. With Pulliam and Morris on hand fans were expecting a very competitive race. It was that, and more. I saw more aggressive moves last night than I have seen most of the year in NASCAR LMSC racing. The guys were going hard for the 10k to win. Someone said a few months back that the drivers have to make the race interesting, and I think that is true. Last night they were going two and three wide trying to make passes in places you don't usually see them making those moves. I think most fans were looking for a Pulliam vs. Morris standoff, but that never materialized as Pulliam parked his car some laps into the event. Morris pulled away at the end due to double wide racing after the restart behind him. I thought we might have a couple of yellows in the last two or three laps, but Phillip was able to break away and take the win. Also, thought that more Langley drivers such as Mark Wertz and Macey Causey might have made the trip over, but Nick Smith (maybe others I don't recognize) was the only one that showed up. Perhaps due to it being Thur. night some couldn't make it out. I always like to visit a track I've never been to, and that alone creates some excitement for me, but I think it was the drivers showing they wanted to win by their racing is what made it really fun for me. Perhaps others may have viewed it differently than I did. I'd like to go back, but the traffic getting up there and back from the Raleigh NC area was quite a chore in itself. Also, a lot of construction on I85 around Henderson is very much a problem for anyone trying to get through that area. I don't like the traffic, etc., but I did like the experience of going to Dominion Raceway.
