Justin Williams Scores Convincing Win in Pro Late Models at Virginia Motor Speedway; Polevoy, Shelton and Givens also Grab Vict
 Virginia Motor Speedway

Dave Seay:
Jamaica, VA – It took seven laps for Defending Victory Lap Pro Late Model Champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA to grab the lead from Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD and once out front pulled away from the field to score his second win in a row on Northern Neck Chevrolet Night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. It looked as if Quade might have something for the field as he held off Williams for the first six laps, a small mistake in turn 2 by Quade was all Williams needed to grab the lead. Once out front Williams cruised to the victory.

“We faded a little there at the end but we able to hold on for the win; it is going to tough to defend this Championship, Me a Tyler (Bare) race pretty good together and hopefully we can race clean the rest of the year,” commented Williams in WhosYourDriver.org Victory Lane.

Rounding out the top were Tyler Bare, Corey Almond, Brent Bordeaux and Carl Vaughan.

In other action Joey Polevoy of Powhatan, VA picked up his fourth Budweiser Modified win of the season; Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, VA scored the win in Truckin Thunder Sportsman and in the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature James Givens of Henrico, VA scored his second win in a row.

Tyler Bare and Matt Quade led the Victory Lap Pro Late Model field to green with Qaude grabbing the lead out of turn 2 as Justin Williams worked to make it 3-wide. On the following circuit Williams grabbed second from Bare and set out for Qaude. On lap 5 the two went side by side out of turn 4 with Quade holding on to the lead by inches. On lap 7 Williams used a small mistake by Qaude in turn 2 to take the lead. Once out front Williams set sail. Several cautions closed the field up to his bumper but Williams was able to hold off some late race challenges by Bare for the win. Rounding out the top five were Tyler Bare, Corey Almond, Brent Bordeaux and Carl Vaughan.

In the Budweiser Modified 30 lap feature Francis Jarrelle and Mark Parks led the field to green with Jarrelle taking the lead out of turn 2. Jarrelle would pace the next four laps with Parks on his bumper. On lap 4 Parks swept the outside of Jarrelle out of turn 2 to take the lead with Joey Polevoy in tow for second. Parks and Polevoy battled side by side for the next 15 laps with Parks holding on for the lead. On lap 21 the leaders made it 3-wide with a lapped car allowing Polevoy to slide under parks for the lead. Once out front Polevoy would pull away from the field as Parks would pull to the infield on lap 25. Polevoy would go on to score his fourth win in a row followed by Francis Jarrelle III, Lance Grady, Jeff Solinger and Charlie Hubbard.

In the Truckin Thunder Sportsman 30 lap feature Brett Adkins and Roger Jamerson led the field to green. As the field headed to turn 2 it quickly became three wide as Tim Shelton dove to the bottom to take the lead. Once out front Shelton began to pull away from the field while Adkins and Jamerson battled for second. By lap 10 Shelton was working traffic with Adkins holding off Jamerson for second. Shelton would work the traffic to perfection and go on to score the win. Rounding out the top five were Roger Jamerson, Brett Adkins, Michael Hayes and Steve Causey.

In the Collision One Limited Stock Car feature Chris Champion and Trent Clemans led the field to green with Champion grabbing the lead out of turn 2. By lap 5 fast qualifier James Givens had worked his way to second from his sixth place starting position. As Givens made his move to take the lead the races first caution came out for a wreck on the front stretch. On the restart Givens swept the outside of Champion out of turn two to take over the top spot. Givens would survive several caution and a late charge by Ryan Hutchens to score his second win of the season. Rounding out the top five were Ryan Hutchens, eleventh starting Cory Bradley, Chris Champion and Marty Coltrain.

The Speedway will take next Saturday June 17th off for the Father’s Day weekend and return Saturday June 24th and host week 6 of the Aaron’s Dirt Series Championship weekly racing action featuring the Victory Lap Pro Late Model, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modified and Collision One Limited Stock Car divisions.
