Saluda, VA. --

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are anxiously awaiting August 8th, that is the day the 30th Annual Topless USA 100™ presented by the US Army returns to the ½ mile speed plant in beautiful Jamaica, VA. The event will be sanctioned by the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS).

“Last year the twin 25’s were phenomenal and the final 50 lap segment was just out of this world. We couldn’t be more pleased with hosting this event. This race is definitely a fan friendly event. The two 25 lap qualifiers could be features anywhere else. This year the race will pay $12,000 to the winner and with it paying $1000 to start the “A” Main. The payout has produced a lot of interest from both Series drivers as well as the local, regional, and even some of the national stars,” concluded track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.

The 30th edition of the USA 100™ will pay a cool $12,000 to-win and $1,000 to start the final 50 lap segment. Once again, this year’s addition will be “topless” as the events popularity took a huge leap last year with the drivers taking their roofs off.

The purse for Ernie Shelton’s Topless USA 100 ® final 50 lap segment: 1. $12,000; 2. $6,000; 3. $3,000; 4. $2,500; 5. $2,000; 6. $1,750; 7. $1,500; 8. $1,250 9. $1,200; 10. $1,150 11.$1,100; 12. $1,075; 13. $1,050; 14. $1,025; 15. $1,020; 16. $1,015; 17. $1,010; 18.$1,005; 19- 26 $1,000. All drivers who do not transfer to the A Main from the twin-25’s will receive $200.00.

Ernie Shelton’s Topless USA 100® format will again feature the AlturnaMATS® Time Trails presented by JNJ Motorsports Media, from which a pair of 25-lap qualifiers will be developed. The first is the Sunoco Race Fuels Odd 25-lap Qualifier presented by Bazell Oil; while the second is the Keizer Aluminum Wheels Even 25-lap Qualifier presented by Big Shot Performance. From each of those events the top 12 drivers will advance straight up into the feature program.

Previous USA 100TM winners include: Chris Madden (08); Jason Covert (07); Jeremy Miller (06); Steve Lucas (’05, ’99, ‘95); Rod Evans (’04); 2003 — no race; 2002 — no race; 2001 — no race; Chuck Harper (’00); Denny Chamberlain (’98); Mike Balzano (’97 and ‘87); Henry Hornsby Jr. (‘96); Donnie Moran (’94); Scott Bloomquist (’93-‘92); Billy Moyer (’91); Harold Redman Sr. (’90); Rod Evans and Harold Redman Sr. (Twin 50’s) (’89); Timmy Newman (only 88 laps) (’88); 1986 — no race; 1985 — no race; 1984 — no race; Larry Moore (’83 and ‘80); Delmas Conley (’82 and ‘79); Dickie Bartusiak (’81); Larry Cantley (’78); Gene McNeely (’77).

The speedway will once again provided fans with a top-flight show for very favorable ticket prices. Adults are $25.00 while Seniors (60+) and Military are $20.00. Students 13-17 $10.00, Children 7-12 $5.00, and children Under 6 FREE. Pit passes will be $30.00.

The competitor gates open at 3:00 p.m. while the spectator gates swing open at 4:00 p.m. On Track Action begins at 6:00 pm with hot laps.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in beautiful Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from the Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads areas.
