Hampton's Nick Smith was last year's Hampton Heat 200 winner and is expected to be on hand to defend his title this Saturday. He has teamed up with Richmond-area car owner Dave Atkinson for the full '09 campaign at South Boston Speedway and has posted three wins. He is currently ranked 12th in the Top 500.
A victory in Saturday's main event would be quite an accomplishment for Smith, coming on the heels of his wire-to-wire win in last Friday's Bailey's 200 at SoBo.
