Asheboro, NC --

March 18, 2009

Caraway Speedway’s competition is expected to be the toughest in the business for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock ranks. The prize money has been raised to a whopping $5,000 to win and $300 to start. The Custom Steel Fabricators Season Opener slated for this Saturday night, has quite an impressive list of driver’s. Three of which are in competition for a third Track Championship title. Only two driver’s have added this to their list of accomplishments, current Nascar Craftsman Truck driver Dennis Setzer of Hickory and Steve Loftin of Thomasville.

Rockingham’s Randy Benson, Reidsville’s Jason York and Siler City’s Stephen Grimes will be in a fierce battle for the championship title this season. If one of the three are successful they will join Setzer and Loftin as three time Track Champions at the speedway.
Benson captured the last two titles at the speedway and is looking forward to the new season. “We are looking forward to the stiff competition this year. I look forward to running with all the different driver’s that are going to race.” Stated Benson.

York, known to his fans as “The Reidsville Rocket”, has been preparing two cars for the season opener. He has been testing and tuning both of his racing machines to get them ready for the 15 race season. “I am looking forward to trying to win another championship. We are going to put a lot of effort into winning and hopefully we will have a little luck on our side, also.” Stated York about his championship effort.
Grimes, often referred to as “The Grimey One”, is excited about his brand new Ford that car owner William Barber, had built over the off-season. “I am really looking forward to this year. We have a new Dunlap Chassis and I can’t wait to give those boys a run for the money.” Stated Grimes.

High Point’s Two –Time Track Champion Travis Swaim is amongst the elite group of champions. Plans for his team are to compete in the Season Opener and many more, but aren’t sure about contending for a third championship title.
Sanford’s Brad Brinkley has one championship title on his racing resume and plans to compete for another title. “We are going to try as long as we can to race. Sponsorships are hard to come by right now. We are looking forward to the season and hopefully we can win one of them so we can continue to race.” Stated Brinkley.
The excitement is obvious amongst the driver’s and fans. The entries for the Season Opener include driver’s from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Florida.

The Custom Steel Fabricators Season Opener will feature a 200 Lap NASCAR Late Model Stock event paying $5,000 to the winner. Also competing will be a 50 Lap Late Model Super Truck event, Sportsman, Legends, Street Stocks and U-Cars. Grandstands will open at 6pm and the racing action gets underway at 8pm.
