PASS Super Late Models set for return visit to South Boston for October 25th running of the Mason Dixon 500!

South Boston, VA. --

The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models have opted to make a return visit to South Boston Speedway for the running of the Mason Dixon 500.

The two-day event is scheduled for Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 and will feature a pair of 250-lap races — with each paying $10,000 to the winner.

In addition to the 250-lap race for the PASS Super Late Models, the Mason Dixon 500 will also feature a 250-lap race for the competitors in the NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division. The first of the two races will get the green flag at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 25. Practice and qualifying for both divisions will be held on Friday, October 24.

The PASS Super Late Models visited America’s Hometown Track for their Mason Dixon event in 2006 and the excitement should be quite intense this year as the double-file restarts made famous in the series will unfold on the four-tenths mile asphalt oval.

Last Year’s Mason Dixon event for the PASS Super Late Models was held in Concord, N.C. and featured a dramatic finish. Ben Rowe capped off a victory in the second annual event last season by passing Corey Williams on the final turn of the last lap to secure the win.

Rowe passed Williams as the white and yellow flags were waving at the same time. PASS rules dictate that once the leaders have taken the white flag, they race to the checkered flag unless the track is blocked and the officials call for a red-flag period.

Williams came out of the final turn, ducked low to avoid a car that had spun and got off the gas just long enough to allow Rowe to jump to the outside and take the checkered flag first in the final 50 feet of the race.

Much of the same excitement and competition can be expected this year when the PASS Super Late Models invade South Boston Speedway for the third annual running of the Mason Dixon event.

Grandstand gates will open Friday, October 24 at 3 p.m. Practice for the PASS Super Late Models and the NASCAR Late Models will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Qualifying time trials will then get the green flag at 4 p.m. that afternoon. Twenty-five lap qualifying races will close out the first day of the Mason Dixon 500. They will be held at 7 p.m.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday, October 25 at 11 a.m. One hour later, 50-lap Last Chance Races will be held for the PASS Super Late Models and the NASCAR Late Models.

A Fan Appreciation Session will begin at 1:30 p.m. trackside and will continue until 2:30 p.m.

The NASCAR Late Models will get the afternoon of racing underway at 3 p.m. on Saturday with their 250-lap race, which will be followed by the PASS Super Late Models in a 250-lap shootout.
