NASCAR Whelen All-American Series News
King Makes History At Irwindale

Charlotte, N.C. --

Drive for Diversity member Lindsey King won her first career NASCAR Whelen All-American Series feature event on Saturday night at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale. The 19-year-old King is the first female to win an Auto Club Late Model event at the half-mile oval.

“It’s amazing,” said King. “I have to thank my dad, my team owner Tim Huddleston, everyone at High Point Racing, and everyone with the Drive for Diversity program for helping me get to Victory Lane.”

Fellow Drive For Diversity member Paul Harraka scored his sixth win of the season Saturday night in the No. 16 Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse Toyota at All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.

King, a first-year participant in the Drive for Diversity program, qualified fifth for the 40-lap feature event in the No. 59 High Point Racing Chevrolet. She started on the outside-pole after the pre-race invert, but was able to pull ahead of the leader on the first lap. King went on to lead every lap and take the checkered flag by a 0.218 second margin of victory over track point leader Nick Joanides.

“Once I got the lead I was able to pull away at first, but I knew they were closing in,” said King. “I just kept hitting my marks. I didn’t look in my mirror. I didn’t even know what lap it was until I saw the white flag.”

King is fifth in the Auto Club Late Model point standings with one win, three top-fives and eight top 10s.

Harraka, 18, made his NASCAR Camping World Series West debut in Tooele, Utah Saturday afternoon. He then traveled back to Roseville for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event Saturday night.

“We had another great night,” said Harraka. “We made a couple of changes to the car before the race and it paid off for us tonight.”

Harraka started the 50-lap feature event in fifth. By lap 20 he had worked his way into third and settled in behind the leaders. After letting the lead cars battle one another for several laps, Harraka moved into position to overtake them. On lap 38 Harraka took the lead and drove away from the pack, winning the race with a half-straightaway lead over second-place.

“I have to thank everyone at Bill McAnally Racing and the Drive for Diversity program,” said Harraka. “We’ve had an amazing season, and it’s not over yet.”

Harraka is third in the All American Speedway Late Model point standings. He has six wins and 11 top-fives in 16 starts.
