Web posted by Dave Seay

Saluda, Va. --

Saluda, VA - Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway returns to action this Saturday night September 24th when they host the 36th Annual Fall Classic. All five of the track’s divisions will be in action. With the Championships already decided it’s all about pride and a place in Fall Classic history.

All five Champions have been crowned with Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD taking the championship in the Victory Lap Late Models over Roland Mann of Chaptico, MD.

“After struggling the last two years here at VMS, this Championship sure feels good, commented Lathroum. “I could not have done it without the help of my family, crew and sponsors,” added Lathroum. Lathroum will receive a $10,000 check at the annual awards banquet for his efforts.rr

Bobby Bustamante of Chesapeake, VA held off Walker Arthur of Forest, VA by 6 points to take the 2005 Truckin Thunder Sportsman title.

“Words can’t explain how I feel right now, to win the Championship here against the type of competition we race with each week is just awesome,” commented Bustamante after his victory lane dance. “VMS is like a Daytona for us, the best of the best are racing here on a weekly basis, and if you win the Championship here you have accomplished something special,” added Bustamante.

Page Harrison of Jetersville, VA took home the Budweiser Modified Championship in a season long battle with Renee Weeks of Powhatan, VA. Shawn Otey of Aylett, VA ended up as the Al’s Auto Parts Champion. Otey also was the division’s champion in 2002 and will be moving up to the Sportsman division in 2006. The Dixie Chopper All American division Championship came down to a tie breaker with John Mosby of Doswell, VA winning the Championship over Johnny Brooks of Mechanicsville, VA by virtue of most wins. Mosby will be moving up to the Charger division in 2006.
