Five features to make up Larry King Night slate Wednesday, July 16, 2008

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Langley Speedway
Five feature races are planned for this Saturday, July 19, as Langley Speedway continues its 2008 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule with Larry King, Professional Legal Services Night.
Saturday's lineup includes: B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); Super 8 Motels/B&B Engines Grand Stocks (40 laps); Bass Pro Shops Super Streets (50 laps); Peninsula Hardwood Mulch INEX Legends (25 laps); and, Wolf Contractors Wolf Trucks (25 laps).
Gates open at 1 p.m. Afternoon practice rounds begin at 2 and wrap up at 4. A drivers meeting is slated for 4:15, followed by time trials at 4:30. Pre-race festivities get under way at 6:55. The Wolf Trucks lead off the evening's feature program shortly after 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. "Little Race Fans" (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members in uniform are also admitted free. Military members in civvies (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. "Family Packs," which include two adult and two children's tickets, are $25 - a savings of $5.

The Speedway will hold its regular, weekly "test and tune" session on Thursday, July 17. Gates open at 5 p.m. and practice begins at 6. Pit admission is $10. There is no charge to watch from the grandstands.

Joe Scarbrough (Modified) and Jeff Sampson (Wolf Truck Pro Division) bring two-race winning streaks into this weekend's competition. By track rules, they'll line up no better than eighth on the starting grid for their respective feature events.

After two idle weeks - one planned, the other weather-induced - Langley's mid-week warriors return to action tonight as the track resumes its "Wild Wacky Wednesdays" program.
The popular event features street cars in 1-on-1 drag races (for one lap around the track), "Time Attacks" (solo runs against the clock) and burnout contests.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the fun gets under way at 7. Tickets are just $5 for adults and kids (6-12). Children under 6 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes for competitors are $15.

Keith Rocco of Waterford Speedbowl in Connecticut remains atop NASCAR's latest Whelen All-American Series national 500 standings. Early-season leader Coleman Pressley of Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina is second, 30 points behind.
Local competitors in the national rankings include: C.E. Falk (14th); Greg Edwards (43rd); Danny Edwards Jr. (105th); Jeff Shiflett (188th); Nick Smith (207th); Dean Shiflett (258th); Shawn Balluzzo (273rd); Mark Wertz (292nd); Matt Waltz (347th); Terry Carroll (413th); Anthony Warren (465th); and, Mike Rudy (467th).
In the Virginia state standings, Philip Morris of Motor Mile Speedway in Radford continues to hold a commanding advantage. Falk is second, followed by Greg Edwards and Davin Scites, who made his Langley debut in last Saturday's Hampton Heat 200. Danny Edwards Jr. is 11th, while Jeff Shiflett and Smith check in at 17th and 19th, respectively.

NASCAR action resumes at Langley Speedway on Saturday, July 26, when the track plays host to Keller Tile & Marble Night. That evening's lineup includes: Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars; Super 8 Motels/B&B Engines Grand Stocks; Med Express Urgent Care Super Trucks; E-Z Auto of Newport News UCARs; and, Standard Welding Pro 6s.

A longtime member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Langley Speedway is a .395-mile, slightly-banked oval. The track is located at 11 Dale Lemonds Dr., off North Armistead Ave., in Hampton, Va.
