Batman and Grave Digger tops in night two of Monster Slam at Virginia Motor Speedway

Jamaica, VA --

Please replace the first version with this one. My apologies for the revision, there was a mistake in the ticket pricing for this weekend at end of story.

Batman and Grave Digger tops in night two of Monster Slam at Virginia Motor Speedway

Even mother nature couldn’t pick up a win against the “Monsters of Mayhem and Destruction” during Night two of Monster Slam at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway. Several hours a storm blew through the area bringing rains and lightening. The storm moved the “Pit Party” to under the grandstands but that was the only deviation from the night’s events as the monster truck contingent put on a tremendous show for the fans.

With the absence of Escalade, due to the huge crash during Friday nights show, that left fast qualifier Mopar Magic with a bye run in round one. The rest of the round one runs were close as Grave Digger beat, Gunslinger, Batman bested Ninja Turtle and Bad News edged out Stone Crusher.

In round two Mopar Magic beat out Grave Digger and Batman took out Bad News. That set up a final between Mopar Magic and Batman with Batman and driver Bobby Parr taking home the racing crown.

The fans were then treated to yet another awesome display of freestyle by all the competitors. In a very tight freestyle competition Grave Digger squeaked out a 1 point win over Stone Crusher to be crowned the Monster Slam freestyle champion.

In Quad Wars it was Team Virginia taking home the win over Team Florida.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway will return to action Saturday, June 14th with some hard chargin’, high octane, elbow’s up short track racing sure to please even the pickiest race fan. Speedway officials and fans alike are anxious for the return of Miss Utility Summer Sizzler featuring the $7000 to win “Dig With Care 50” and the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS Super Late Model).

The competitor gates open at 3:00 p.m. while the spectator gates swing open at 4:00 p.m. On Track Action begins at 6:00 p.m. with hot laps.

Divisions scheduled to race on Saturday June 14th: Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Late Models (50 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 laps); and the Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps). Sportsman and Modified divisions will run Hot Lap Time Trials and Features only. Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Late Models will run Hot Laps, Time Trials, Heats, B Mains and the $7,000 to win, 50 lap feature.

The speedway will once again provide fans with a top-flight show for very favorable ticket prices. Adult admission is only $25.00 while seniors (60+) and military are $22.00. Students 13 to 17 years old are $10.00 with children 7 to 12 years old $5.00 and children 6 and under FREE. VMS will also offer a ‘Family Pass’ that consists of two adults and two children 12 and under for only $44.00. Fans are also encouraged to visit the speedway’s website for a $2.00 off discount coupon good on an adult, senior or military ticket. Pit passes for the one day event will be $25.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, a ½ mile dirt oval track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA in Jamaica, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
