Jake “The Snake” Crum Heads to Bristol with A New Sponsor, Fatz Cafe
May 13, 2008 - updated May 13th, 2008 8:13pm

Statesville, NC. --

Team Crum Racing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:(May 12, 2008)

Jake “The Snake” Crum, is heading to one of his favorite tracks with a new sponsor on the side of his car. The Fatz Café in Bristol, TN, will be on the side of the car for a one-race deal this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Thompson Metal 150 on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

“It’s pretty cool that Fatz Cafe is coming on board to help us out this weekend,” commented Jake. “We’re still looking for full-time sponsorship, so this will really help us out. We’ve got a bigger crew this year too, so I hope they’re ready for us.”

Jake is riding high on momentum as he currently leads the points in the UARA-Stars Late Model Series and will be gunning for his first victory of the 2008 season. Jake comes into the fourth race of the season soaring on confidence as he has already racked up two second place finishes and one third place finish. He also knows that this is a track that he has had a tremendous amount of success in only two starts. He led over 80 laps his first time at the track and came back two weeks later to grab a runner-up spot.

“Last year we had a little failure [in the first race at Bristol]. We were leading the race and the wheel broke and ended our day early,” reminisced the 16 year-old driver. “We came back a couple weeks later and ran second. Hopefully this year we can come out
with a win.”

The team tested at the track recently and ran the quickest laps of the cars attending the practice session. Crew Chief, Nick Hutchins, said the whole team was not only thrilled with the car, but very proud to have Jake behind the wheel.

“I believe the whole team feels that his could be the one,” commented Hutchins, who is a former late model driver himself. “Jake is very sharp in the car and that makes myself, and the team, feel good that he is confident getting in a racecar and knowing that its
capable of winning. “

It has been more than a year now since the famous Half Mile track has been repaved and the track seems to be getting more to some of the drivers liking. Jake spoke to Doc Love of www.racefanradio.com’s Kick’n Asphalt recently about the track and how the tires would play a part this year.

“I think it has a little more grip. When you get on the gas the whole car just goes,” Jake commented. “Last year it would kind of kick out a little bit in the center.”

Be sure to catch Jake and all the action of the UARA-Stars Late Model Series Thompson Metal 150 this Saturday night at 8pm at Bristol Motor Speedway. There will also be an autograph session for fans just before the start of the race. If you can’t make it to the track, you can follow along with live updates on www.JakeCrumRacing.com , just click on the Live with Jake at the Track link.

Team Crum Racing would like to thank Fatz Café for helping out as an associate sponsor this weekend. Fatz Café started out in Spartanburg, SC in 1998 and has grown to own 43 restaurants all throughout the South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. They offer great food at generous portions served in a relaxed, comfortable setting by friendly people. To find out where the nearest location is to you, check out www.fatzcafe.com.
