Langley returns to action with Med Express Night this Saturday

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Langley Speedway -
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 HAMPTON, Va.
(May 7) - After taking last weekend off for NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series activities in Richmond, Langley Speedway resumes its 2008 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule this Saturday, May 10, with Med Express Night at the Races.
Saturday's lineup includes: B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); Super 8 Motels/B&B Engines Grand Stocks (40 laps); Peninsula Hardwood Mulch INEX Legends (40 laps); Med Express Urgent Care Super Trucks (25 laps); E-Z Auto of Newport News UCARs (25 laps); and, Standard Welding Pro 6s (30 laps).
Gates open at 1 p.m., while afternoon practice begins at 2 and runs until 4. The drivers meeting gets under way at 4:15, followed by time trials at 4:30. Pre-race festivities, including a demonstration of remote-controlled vehicles from Hobbytown USA and recognition of Langley's "#1 Mom," start at 6:40. The evening's feature race slate, with the Pro Sixers in the leadoff spot, begins at 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. "Little Race Fans" (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members in uniform are also admitted free. Military members in civvies (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. "Family Packs," which include two adult and two children's tickets, are $25 - a savings of $5.

The Speedway will hold its regular, weekly "test and tune" session on Thursday, May 8. Gates open at 5 p.m. and practice begins at 6.
Pit admission is $10 with a valid NASCAR, INEX, HRKC or Langley Speedway license and $20 without a current competition license. There is no charge to watch from the grandstands.

The deadline is fast approaching, but there's still time to submit nominations for this weekend's "#1 Mom" contest - the Speedway's annual celebration of the Mother's Day holiday.
To enter your favorite mother, just write a brief paragraph telling why she's tops in your book and e-mail it to Michael Hill at <email@example.com> or fax it to 757-865-0072. The contest deadline is Thursday, May 8, at 4 p.m.
The winner will receive free admission to Saturday's races, a lovely assortment of gifts and will be saluted during pre-race ceremonies. Please be sure to include your name and phone number with your entry.

The winner of Saturday's INEX Legends 40-lapper will pocket $1,000 - nearly four times the payout for one of the division's customary 25-lap events. W.B. Price Construction, Butler Construction, Elizabeth River Lawn & Landscaping and Silva's Heating & Air are the sponsors of this weekend's Legends race.

The Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars will return with a 100-lap feature event when NASCAR action continues at Langley Speedway on Saturday, May 17, with Armed Forces Night presented by Casey Auto Group.
Also on hand that evening will be the Bass Pro Shops Super Streets, Wolf Contractors Wolf Trucks and Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts.
Tickets for all military personnel - active or retired, with ID - are just $5 on the 17th.

In a bit of housekeeping from the April 26 LMSC race, Nick Smith's third-place finish has been disallowed because of unapproved modifications to the shocks on his #21 car. The ouster leaves Smith, the opening night race winner, in 16th place in the series standings.
