Ryan Fischer Claims First Top-10 Finish At Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, KS (April 25, 2008) -- Ryan Fischer and the TufTruck, Q 104 FM, Venturini Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS team were ready to take the green flag, come the start of the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand Friday afternoon. The car seemed to handle well right off the truck and only required minor adjustments during the day’s one and only practice session.

Even though this was Fischer’s first trip to the mile-and-a half Kansas Speedway, he laid down the 12th fastest qualifying time. Once he took the green flag, Fischer and the No. 25 TufTruck Q 104 FM Chevy became an immediate threat. The race was a monumental step in Fischer’s young ARCA RE/MAX Series career and eventually ended with him earning his first career top-10 effort.

Venturini Motorsports arrived at Kansas Speedway Thursday afternoon were they immediately started to prepare for Friday afternoon’s race. This race would mark Venturini Motorsports sixth start at Kansas Speedway and Fischer’s inaugural debut.

The No. 25 TufTruck Q 104 FM Chevrolet took to the track early Friday morning for the only practice session before the race. The team used this practice session to hone in on the car’s handling and to also give Fischer some needed seat time at the mile and a half.

During practice, the team focused on race trim as well as mock qualifying runs. By the end of practice Fischer had netted the 14th quickest time with 32.030 seconds at 168.592 MPH.

Following the early morning practice session, the crew set the car up for their qualifying run. Fischer fresh off his practice run where he gained valuable seat time, was also given expert advice before qualifying from veteran driver/crew chief Billy Venturini.

It proved beneficial.

During his qualifications lap, Fischer recorded the 12th quickest time with a run of 31.837 seconds at 169.614 mph. The effort earned Fischer a career best qualifying effort.

“We unloaded a wicked fast race car today, which required very little tuning in our practice runs. This is my first time at Kansas Speedway, and so far I am really enjoying myself. To have never stepped a foot on this race track, then qualify 12th is a true testament to not only myself but Venturini Motorsports as a whole. I want to thank my crew for working so hard, and all of the long hours and for giving me a great race car,” Fischer remarked after qualifying.

40 cars were staged and ready to take the green flag for the 100 lap event.

The No. 25 TufTruck, Q 104 FM Chevy was poised to have a great race with the CJM Racing developmental driver strapped in and ready to hammer down.

Fischer and the No. 25 TufTruck, Q 104 FM Chevy started out strong with a fairly neutral race car. As the run became longer, Fischer became faster posting the fourth fastest lap times.

The car did become a little snug towards the end of the first long green flag run. During the first caution of the day, the crew made a minor adjustment, along with four fresh Hoosier tires, bringing Fischer in seventh but sending him out third. That was soon spoiled however when ARCA officials pointed out a tire that had escaped the pit box and rolled across pit road. The team had to restart at the tail of the longest line in 15th position.

After the early pit road incident, Fischer found himself determined to get back to the front. He made his way past as many cars as he could set his sights on, and eventually found himself in third place. After a late restart the TufTruck, Q 104 FM machine found itself in the fifth position before being spun out.

Fischer quickly corrected the car and got back under power, bringing it to pit road for four fresh tires. He once again found himself restarting 15th but this time with six laps remaining. Once the green flag waved, Fischer was off and running trying to work his way back into the top-10. In a daring last lap pass, Fischer took his No. 25 TufTruck, Q 104 FM Chevrolet around two cars, to claim his first ever top-10 finish in less than a dozen starts.

“What an amazing race we had today. From our highs of having one of the best race cars, to the lows we experienced, we were truly a threat all day long. My Venturini Motorsports crew prepared me a phenomenal race car, and I absolutely drove the wheels off of it,” Fischer commented after the race.

“That was the most fun I’ve had in a race car in a long time, and I am so thrilled we brought home our first top 10 today. I want to thank my crew, Venturini Motorsports, my fans, and everyone who has supported me through the years, as well as my sponsors TufTruck and Q 104 FM, without all of you none of this would have been possible, and I look forward to my next ARCA RE/MAX Series race, where I will continue to gun for my first win,” sounded an ecstatic Fischer after the race.
