(Stafford Springs, CT)---Stafford Motor Speedway will welcome the reigning
Miss Connecticut, Dana Daunis to the track to perform the National Anthem
for the track’s 37th Annual Tech-Net Spring Sizzler. Daunis will join
Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell to give the track a distinct Connecticut
“We are looking forward to having Miss Connecticut perform our National
Anthem at the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler,” said Lisa Arute, SMS Executive Vice
President. “This will mark the first time we have ever had a Miss
Connecticut performing the National Anthem at Stafford Motor Speedway.”
Active and accomplished are just two words to describe Miss Connecticut
2007, Dana Elaine Daunis. The 22 year-old Watertown native received her
degree in Psychology, with a minor in Theater Performance at Central
Connecticut State University.
Dana recently spent time in Ghana, Africa studying the country's mental
health and healing to finalize her Bachelor of Arts. One of her scholastic
ambitions is to earn a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology and
Certification in Play Therapy. She intends to open a practice as a
Registered Play Therapist in the future.
As Miss Connecticut, Dana is dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse
through prevention and recovery efforts. The future of abused and neglected
children is truly at stake as they are 10 times more likely to suffer from
depression, alcoholism, drug abuse and obesity. In addition, they are also
more likely to require special education in school and have a greater
propensity to become juvenile delinquents or adult criminals. Dana believes
that by working to prevent abuse and to help others recover, we are not only
curbing future mistreatment, but are also working diligently toward breaking
a chain of events stemming from the epidemic of child abuse.
