Orange County Speedway news release for April 26th event

Rougemont, NC. --

Teenage phenom Jake "the Snake" Crum headlines the entry list for the United Auto Racing Association's touring Late Model series Saturday afternoon, April 26, at Orange County Speedway.
Statesville resident Crum leads the UARA series standings for the first time of his career on the strength of a pair of runner-up finishes in the series' first two races. "I want to go all the way to the top one day," said the soft-spoken 16-year-old Crum. "The UARA championship would be a great way to get started."
Orange County Speedway expects a full field for the UARA's 150-lap race, the main event of a six-race program. Support races include 50 laps for the Limited Sportsman division, 35 laps for the Trailers of the East Coast Grand Stock division and 20 laps of Pure Stock racing.
Matt Lofton of Roxboro, 2006 Limited Sportsman champion here, is among the local drivers expected to challenge the UARA regulars from six states.
The highly anticipated April 12 racing debuts here for 15-year-old Jeb Burton in Limited Sportsman and Lizzy Smith in Grand Stock were postponed by their teams. Both drivers have scheduled additional practice time are are expected for the April 26 racing.
Brandon McReynolds of Mooresville, son of FOX television analyst Larry McReynolds, and Ryan Robertson of Winston-Salem are to make their first starts at OCS in the UARA main event.
The senior McReynolds told a radio audience that "Brandon is doing well so far. I am the one who has been nervous."
Third-generation driver Robertson is advancing a career that has been laced with victories in Limited Sportsman and Late Model at other tracks in the Carolinas. His grandfather Gerald Robertson raced open-wheel Modifieds and father Mike was a multi-time winner in a Sportsman car.
Crum's fast start this year adds to a resume than includes more than 350 victories in a career that started on a go-cart at age six. He began to race stock cars three years ago and his name is very familiar to scouts at the major league level.
"My dad didn't mess around," said Crum, referring to father Billy, a grading contractor. "He decided I was ready and put me right in a Late Model. I was nervous a couple of races, but I have never looked back."
To accomodate his goal of racing professionally, Crum began home schooling with his mother Sabrina this year. "I was just missing too much time at school because of racing," he said. "Now I can get my education on and off the track."
This will be Crum's second appearance at the steeply-banked three-eighths mile asphalt track. "I love the place," he said. "I was running third my first time there and lapped car put me in the wall."
He added: "This may sound funny coming from a 16-year-old, but I am ready to win this time. I have more experience and better car control. I am still aggressive, though."
More information about the April 26 event is available at the track's website, www.ocstrack.com .
