Web posted by Dave Seay

Jamaica, VA --

The stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are headed to Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway for a 50-lap no holds barred brawl that is sure to be one for the ages. The $10,000 to win Rumble on the River 4 will be Friday, April 11th and will feature many of the nation’s top Super Late Model drivers competing for the top prize.

“Lat year’s event was one of the Speedway’s best events ever, the action, the power and three and four wide racing kept the fans on their feet,” commented Track General Manager Clarke Sawyer. “We can’t wait to see the nation’s top drivers back in what is a must see event.”

Heading the entry list of drivers expected to compete are defending race winner Shannon Babb, 2007 Champion Steve Francis, 2006 winner Rick Eckert, 2005 winner Clint Smith, Shane Clanton, Chub Frank, Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards, 2007 Rookie of the Year Tim Fuller, Brian Shirley, as well as Rookie of the Year registrants Vic Coffey, Danny Johnson and Joe Isabell. Johnson scored a win in 2007 with his victory in the inaugural Paul Sawyer Memorial for the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series big block modifieds.

Some of the top national and regional racers with the VMS event on their schedules are Billy Moyer, Jeremy Miller, defending MACS Champion Jason Covert, Booper Bare, Bo Feathers, Ricky Elliott, Ronnie Dehaven Jr., Jimmy Bernheisel, Devin Friese, Jack Pencil and a host of others.

“The list of drivers that are going to be competing in the Rumble keeps growing every day and is a who’s who of national and regional talent, this could be the most competitive field in years at our speedway, we are extremely excited about the possibilities,” added Sawyer about the level of competition headed to VMS next weekend.

Competitor gates for Friday, April 11th will open at 3pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. On track activities will begin at 7pm with hot laps. Divisions scheduled to race on Friday April 11th: World of Outlaws Late Models (50 Laps); Truckin Thunder Sportsman (25 Laps) and the Budweiser Modifieds (25 Laps).
