LEE, N.H. --
Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH., has announced a 23 event race schedule for the 2008 season. The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will be featured weekly along with the Northeast’s top touring divisions in special events. Included are the American-Canadian Tour, NEMA Midgets, ISMA Supermodifieds, True Value Modified Racing Series, Pro 4 Modifieds, Allison Legacy Series and NELCAR. All will be making appearances throughout the season.
Returning in 2008 will be the popular “Governors Cup 200” race which has been a Lee favorite since the 80’s. The race, in honor of the State of New Hampshire’s top official was revived last year with the Honorable John Lynch on hand for the event. This year’s race will highlight the two of the top touring divisions in the country, the ACT for Late Models and the TVMRS, for the open wheel modifieds. The early season special will take place Sunday afternoon April 20. The Allison Legacy and Northeast Legend Auto Racing Series will also be a part of the spring special.
The NEMA midgets return to Lee twice this season with their popular open wheel show coming to the 3/8 mile facility June 27 and September 12. They’ll bring with them their all new “NEMA Lite Series.” Called a “feeder class” by NEMA vice president Tim Bertrand, the series is designed to introduce new competitors to winged midgets “in very low cost, less powerful cars.”
The Pro 4 Modified Tour will invade Lee for the Bot-L-Gas/RF Logic sponsored “Triple Crown Series” on May 16, July 18, and Aug 22 while the True Value Modified Racing Series will compete in the “Port City 100 July 11, and again Oct 5 as part of the annual Oktoberfest weekend.
The ultra powered ISMA Supermodifieds roll into the Rte 125 oval on Friday Aug 15 for
the fifth annual “Ollie Silva Summer Classic” 75 lap race. A popular event for fans young and old, the fastest short track race cars in America compete in front of huge crowds at Lee.
The speedways weekly divisions will once again consist of the Late Models, Mac Tools Supermodifieds, Planet Aid Hobby Stocks, Prime Storage Late Model Sportsmen, and Roadrunners. The American Used Auto Parts Iron Man division will also be on the schedule. Special events are planned for the weekly classes such as the Watts Racing “Triple Crown Series” for the Late Models, Hobby Stock Shootout Aug 1, Lance Davis Memorial Late Model Sportsman race Aug 29, and the “Summer Shootout” for the supermodifieds July 18.
Friday racing “Under the Lights” begins May 2 with races starting at 7:15 PM
In advance of the new season, race fans will have the opportunity to meet drivers and see race cars up close at several off season car shows. Supermodified driver Jack Lilly, and late model drivers Jeff Labrecque and Katrina Canney will be on hand at the NH Camping/RV Show at the State Armory, Manchester, NH Feb 15, 16, 17.
