South Boston, VA. --

Wayne Ramsey has been looking to get back into Victory Lane here at South Boston Speedway since the first race of the season.

The Amherst, Va. resident finally got there Saturday night as he drove his Ford to victory in the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division, the feature event of the Halifax County Tourism 150 Presented by Berry Hill Estate racing program.

Saturday night’s NASCAR racing action culminated the track’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend which began on Friday night with a 50th Anniversary Reunion that brought together more than 100 former competitors, car owners and racing personalities that have been a part of South Boston Speedway’s rich history.

Ramsey took the lead from division points leader Adam Barker of Hurt, Va. on the 11th lap and never relinquished it as he drove to a 1.752 second victory over fellow Ford driver Greg Edwards of Poquoson, Va.

Barker finished third with Jonathan Bailey of Keysville, Va. finishing fourth and Jonathan Cash of Roxboro, N.C. rounding out the top five finishers. Rodney Cook of Reidsville, N.C. finished sixth and was the last driver to finish on the lead lap.

Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va., Ronald Hill of Rougemont, N.C., Scott Turlington of Richmond, Va. and David Triplett, Jr. of Timberlake, N.C. rounded out the top ten finishers. They were all two laps down.

Edwards, the pole winner, Barker and Ramsey engaged in a three-way battle for the lead early. When Ramsey broke into the top spot, the trio separated themselves from the field and determined the outcome between them.

A caution flag on lap 63 closed up the field but Ramsey was able to pull away from the field and secure his second win of the season.

The race featured two lead changes among three drivers with Ramsey leading the final 140 laps.

Ramsey averaged 79.921 mph in the race that took 45 minutes and 24 seconds to complete.

Anderson Wins Limited Sportsman Race

Limited Sportsman Division points leader Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. added to his points lead Saturday night as he drove to his 11th win of the season in the 50-lap Limited Sportsman Division race.

Anderson led only lap, taking the lead from pole winner Lee Pulliam of Semora, N.C. on the final lap and edging Pulliam by a car length and third-place finisher Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. by about three car lengths.

Anderson’s margin of victory over Pulliam was .172 second. Willis was about three car lengths or .449 second behind at the finish.

Tommy Peregoy of Red Oak, Va. finished fourth and Brian Pembleton of Amelia, Va. rounded out the top five finishers.

Throckmorton Takes Pure Stock Win

Joey Throckmorton of Scottsburg, Va. took the lead on the sixth lap and drove to victory in the 30-lap race for the Budweiser Pure Stock Division.

Justin Tucker of Elon, N.C. crossed the finish line in second place but was disqualified after his car failed to pass a post-race inspection by track NASCAR officials.

Courtney Crosby of Scottsburg, Va. was elevated to second place with William Ridgeway of Burlington, N.C., Mark Francisco of Halifax, Va. and Joe Allred of Scottsburg, Va. rounding out the top five finishers.

The four champions competed in an eight-lap race driving cars provided by competitors in the Legendary Ford Flathead Racing Association.
