Team GLOCK Racing; Michelle Theriault Competitive In Nashville Despite Finish

Lebanon, Tennessee --

“Spraker Racing Enterprises Sees Top-10 Run Spoiled With Mechanical Failure”

(Tuesday, August 14, 2007)

Being a female competitor in the ARCA RE/MAX Series usually attracts a lot of attention in itself, but Michelle Theriault’s run in Saturday’s TOYOTA ARCA 150 had people talking for a different reason.

Theriault headed into her third career ARCA RE/MAX Series race looking to backup her Nashville Superspeedway test speeds in which the No. 37 mounted the fourth fastest time.

By the end of the first practice, Theriault and her Spraker Racing Enterprises team proved the testing paid off. During the two hour session, Theriault charged into the top-five for much of the session before settling for 11th overall after netting a lap in 30.993 seconds or 154.835 MPH.

“The car is great,” offered Theriault, who was second fastest of the female camp. “I’m really proud of Jeff Spraker and the guys. The car unloaded just as fast as it did in the test and that speaks volumes for this team. A lot of teams made qualifying runs late in practice which slipped our time, but we’ll be fine.”

Heading into ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying, Theriault knew she had to bust out a good and competitive lap to award her team with their first ARCA start at Nashville Superspeedway. During her time trials attempt, Theriault conquered the track with a time of 30.688 seconds at 156.374 MPH putting her 15th on the starting grid.

“We picked up from practice, but so did everyone else,” Theriault explained. “The car is fine. We’re going to be good in the race, we’re starting mid-pack, but we have the lead pack in our sights and we’re not going to hold anything back during the race.”

At the start of the event, Theriault quickly found her groove racing competitively with the mid-pack before putting her GLOCK, Inc. machine into the 13th position when the first caution flag waived on lap 11.

When the caution flag would waive on lap 19, Theriault was holding down the 15th position. During the next green flag run, Theriault would continue to hover safely inside the top-15, but her No. 37 GLOCK, Inc. Chevrolet began to slow on lap 68 when she ran out of fuel.

Theriault coasted to pit road where she was met by her team who pushed her Chevrolet Monte Carlo to their stall. The team would refuel the car and send Theriault back into battle.

Unfortunately, Theriault’s struggles continued when the motor began to seize forcing the NASCAR Busch East Series rookie to bring her machine down pit road before making the hard left hand turn into the garage. Theriault would exit the event on lap 82 and finish a disappointing 28th.

“I am not going to complain about our performance today,” said Theriault. “We had a good day, just miscalculated the fuel mileage. We were in contention for our first top-10 finish, but unfortunately did not make it. The team did a fabulous job this weekend, it just wasn’t our day. I don’t know what exactly happened to the motor. It began to skip and we didn’t want to take a chance of blowing it, so we came in. We’ll be back at Gateway at the end of the month and we’ll look for some redemption there.”

Craig Dutton, Director of Sales for GLOCK, Inc. offered his thoughts on Nashville. “We have shown we can be very competitive in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Spraker Racing Enterprises built a fast race car and Michelle had another top-10 in her sights. The results were unfortunate, but the team will come back strong at Gateway.”
