Holman Grabs Second Pole Out Of The Last Three Southern Division Races
Aug 6, 2007 - updated Aug 6th, 2007 3:34pm
Web posted by Lindsey Holman

Abingdon, VA. --

Coming into Hickory from a 26th place finish at Southern National, Caleb Holman and the #75 Food Country race team were hungry for a top 5 finish. Holman went out to qualify 12th in line and ran a lap of 15.219 putting him to the top of the charts, and clinching his second Awesome Awning Pole Award. “This is a huge confidence booster for the Food Country team. Qualifying up front is a great advantage and getting out front and leading, we just need to keep that luck the whole way through the race,” says Holman.

At 8:00 pm thirty-three engines fired up for the Aaron’s 250 at Hickory Motor Speedway. Holman took the green and lead until lap 29, until Trevor Bayne took over for the night. On lap 37, the #2 car of Matt Carter challenged Caleb for the second position. Holman running the high line went into turn three and spun by himself. “I went into turn three running the top groove like I had every lap before and something broke. The car was junk after that.” That brought out the second caution of the night and Holman brought his #75 Food Country Chevrolet down pit road for gas. Caleb restarted the race and went a lap down, but then got the Aaron’s Lucky Dog when the caution came out. The next caution Caleb came down pit road again for four tires. Bay lap 171, Caleb had made his way back up through the field into 7th position. Then on lap 183, contact from Chase Pistone sent Holman spinning in turn four. Caleb again restarted in the back and worked his way back up to finish in the 16th position.

“Something happened to the car after we spun the first time, and we tried all night to get the car as good as we could. The past three races we have been fast and qualified up front, so I guess if we keep doing that then there’s got to be some luck out there somewhere for us,” says Holman. Caleb and the Food Country race team are now preparing for the next Hooters ProCup event at their home track, Bristol Motor Speedway on August 22nd.
