Falk Hopes To Get Back To Victory Lane In Embarq 150
Jul 12, 2007 - updated Jul 12th, 2007 3:08pm

South Boston, VA --

C.E. Falk III proved to be a spoiler when he won the 150-lap NASCAR Late Model Stock Car Division race here at South Boston Speedway on June 23 and snapped Adam Barker’s seven-race win streak. While Falk was unable to repeat in the big 200-lap race here on July 3 and Barker got back into Victory Lane, he still had a good night with a third-place finish behind Barker and Jerame Donley. The third-place finish gave Falk his second straight top-three finish and his fourth consecutive top-ten finish. It also pulled him to within six points of veteran driver David Triplett Jr. of Timberlake, N.C. who stands third in the track’s Late Model Stock Car Division points race. Falk is hoping that his recent success here at South Boston Speedway will continue when the track stages the Embarq 150 racing program on Saturday night, July 14.

The Embarq 150, which will start at 7 p.m., will be a four-race program highlighted by a 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division. “My crew guys are doing a great job,” Falk said. “They’re working their butts off and I really appreciate it. I’m just trying to put together top-five runs every week. We’re a top-five car and we want to be a winning car.” Falk has proven he has the potential to be a winner. He and Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. are the only two drivers that have been able to top Barker in the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division this season as Barker has won eight of the 10 races run in the division this season. The 19-year-old Virginia Beach, Va. resident will, however get another crack at Barker and another chance to reach Victory Lane in the 150-lap race that will highlight Saturday night’s four-race card. In addition to the 150-lap Late Model Stock Car race, the Embarq 150 racing program will include races for the Limited Sportsman Division, the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the regional touring Legendary Ford Flatheads Racing Association.

Barker enters the 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division as the division points leader. Barker holds a 62-point lead over Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. entering the Embarq 150. Defending Limited Sportsman Division champion Bruce Anderson of South Boston, Va. leads the Limited Sportsman Division standings. He holds a 40-point lead over Danny Willis Jr. of Cluster Springs, Va. entering Saturday night’s action. Chuck Watkins of Stem, N.C. continues to hold the top spot in the Budweiser Pure Stock Division points race with a 16-point lead over William Ridgeway of Burlington, N.C. Saturday’s race day schedule calls for pit gates open at 1 p.m. Practice will go from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Qualifying time trials start at 5:15 p.m. and the first race will start at 7 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. with the track’s Early Bird special admission of $8 for adults in effect until 6:30 p.m. Adult admission after that will be $10. Youths ages 10-15 will be admitted for $5. Kids ages 9 and under will be admitted free.
