Stancill Makes Strong First Impression In NASCAR Busch East Series Debut

Mooresville, NC. --

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:06/02/07

As the lift gate on the DLP Motorsports hauler was lowered at South Boston Speedway (South Boston, VA) on Saturday morning, eighteen-year-old rookie Ben Stancill laid his eyes upon the #58 Nassau Painting Chevrolet for the first time. It would be a short introduction, because hours later he would be attempting to make his debut in the Busch East Series by qualifying the car into the field for the NASCAR Busch East South Boston 150.

The team had picked up the car from Busch East regular Rich Gould days earlier, but since the 18 year-old driver is completing his final days of his senior year in Ayden N.C. , he was unable to visit the team’s headquarters in Mooresville , NC .

After some cockpit adjustments, the driver quickly showed his abilities to adapt as he posted the 6th fastest time in practice.

Stancill would again silence the critics during qualifying as he put the Nassau Painting Chevrolet in the 9th starting position. Ahead of many of the series’ “big name” development teams fielded by NASCAR powerhouses like Hendrick Motorsports, Rusty Wallace Inc., and Dale Earnhardt Inc. As the green flag fell on the South Boston 150, Ben began to experience some handling issues, and he wrestled with the car to maintain a spot in the top 15.

During a mid-race caution, crew chief David (Buggy) Pletcher elected to pit in an effort to tighten up the car.

The action picked up from there as the talented driver attempted to find a line on the track that would allow the car to get through the corners. Ben who had slipped back to as far as 22nd was able to work his way back to the top 15 by the last lap.

Always a fan favorite, Ben Stancill greets fans and signs autographs during the pre-race autograph session “Considering the facts, we had a really great run tonight. It’s too bad we didn’t have a little bit more time to work with the car to get a setup that would work better for us during the race” said Stancill “We really appreciate Rich (Gould) giving us the opportunity to run his car.” “Hopefully, this will open the door for other similar opportunities. This is a very professional series and I had a great time running against these true competitors.”

Stancill and his DLP Motorsports team will now refocus their efforts on their rookie season in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series efforts. The team is coming off of their season best 6th place finish at Madison International Speedway on May 26th. They will look towards the Mansfield Motorsports Speedway for the next event on the Sears Northern series schedule on Saturday June 9th. Primary sponsorship opportunities are still available with Ben Stancill for this event along with the entire series schedule.
