Winston-Salem, NC. --
Robertson Racing made history Saturday nite, racing three generations of the same family at Bowman Gray Stadium. It was the first time in the track’s storied 59-year history that this has occurred, despite the family nature of the sport.
“It was great to have us all racing on the same night – a bit crazy, but a lot of fun”, said Mike Robertson, son to Gerald and father to Ryan. Mike Robertson finished fifth in the Sportsman division, after getting bumped from the lead on the final lap having led most of the race. Ryan, after drawing the 16th starting position, finished eleventh on the short ¼ mile track in the first race and sixth in the second heat.
Grandfather Gerald also had another good night, fifth and eleventh in the Sportsman race, finishing 4th in the Stadium Stock division. Gerald won this division just last week.
The twin Carolina Wood Floors Chevrolets will take to the track again this weekend, racing Friday night at Friendship Motor Speedway, this time with veteran driver Jason Myers behind the wheel of the #39 car. Myers is a regular on the ASA Southern Modified Race Tour and has several wins in a Modified at Friendship.
“I’m looking forward to giving Jason a chance in a competitive car this week at Friendship. I think Jay and Ryan will compliment each other and give Robertson Racing a real shot at the winners circle this week. Three generations of racing in the Myers family and three generations in the Robertson family give this match-up a tremendous amount of history and getting either driver to victory lane would be something special”, said team owner, Mike Robertson.
