Driver & Team Press Releases News
Brent Robinson competes in North Carolina, Virginia

Web posted by Press Release

Smithfield, Va. --

Smithfield, Virginia (May 8, 2007) The Brent Robinson Inc. (BRI) racing team made the tow west on April 27th to compete in a $4,000 to win Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series event at Thunder Valley Speedway in Lawndale, NC. The team had a decent, qualifying lap around the half-mile oval to position Brent to start 10th for the feature event. Brent lost a few positions at the beginning of the race, but slowly worked his way back up to 12th before the race was over. On April 28th the team would then travel less than an hour away to compete at the new Harris Speedway, located in Harris, NC. This event was also a $4,000 to win Carolina Clash race. The team would set the 10th quickest time placing them to start mid pack once again for the feature event. However, a bad setup for the feature forced an early spin and Brent could only advance to the 15th position before the end of the race. The following Thursday, May 3rd, the team would race at the their home track in Saluda, VA for a $5,000 to win unsanctioned race. Brent set the 12th quickest time in the 34-car field. The team then came back strong with a 2nd place finish in the heat race. Brent would maintain during the feature but could not advance bringing home a 14th place finish. The Carolina Clash race that the BRI racing team was supposed to compete at on Saturday was rained out early Saturday morning so they headed back closer to home to race at Clary’s Speedway for a $2,000 to win event. Brent was the fastest qualifier only to have rain move in before the feature event.

“We really struggled at both of the Carolina Clash shows this past weekend, so it was good to race at our home track and get a decent finish. We messed up a little in qualifying at Virginia Motor Speedway because when we changed the motors Tuesday night we did not change the rev limiter chip and I hit the chip near the end of the straight-aways every time. It really slowed my laps down quite a bit. Then for the feature we missed on the tire compound and I just could not get my tires to fire after the restarts. Then on Friday we went all the way to Asheville, NC to find out we were rained out at Tri- County Race Track. We decided to head home and if we made it to Clary’s Speedway in time, we would stop and race. We barely made it in time, but the car was working good and it was just our luck that the rain would move in shortly before the feature,” stated Brent Robinson via telephone from his home in Smithfield, Virginia.

The BRI racing team was planning on taking off this weekend but now they will head to Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC for a $4,000 to win Carolina Clash event on May 12th. The following weekend the team will compete at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC for a $5,000 to win Carolina clash show on May 18th. Then they will head North to Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA to compete in a $5,000 to win Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series race on May 19th. More information can be found on these events at www.carolinaclash.com or www.advanceautopartsthunderseries.com .

In conclusion, a division of Carlson Race Photos Inc., known as Dixie Dirt TV, taped the two races Brent competed in at Thunder Valley and Harris Speedway. These races and many more events that Brent has competed in this year can be watched by registering for free at www.dixiedirttv.com .

Brent Robinson would like to thank the following sponsors and crew for their continued support: Terry Heating and Air Conditioning, CAMS Race Engines, Stuckey Enterprises, Granny and Papa, Steeltech Industrial Fabrication, American Racer Tires, Ringers Gloves, Rocket Chassis, Cometic Gaskets, Bell Racing, Racecom, Burton Services, Dean Robinson, Elaine Robinson, Travis Gum, Shawn Hittle, Jigger Sirois, and Mike Schultz. The Brent Robinson Inc. race team continues to seek sponsors for the 2007 season. To explore the possibilities call Dean Robinson at (757) 880 0712 or email drtracn3@aol.com.
