They say age is just a number. For Ryan Wilson of Randleman what is shocking is what he’s been able to accomplish on the race track at such a young age. At only 15, Wilson suits up week after week and gets behind the wheel to go bumper to bumper against men twice his age. Wilson doesn’t even have his license yet, so he can’t drive legally on the highway. Put him behind the wheel and on the track and you’d never know it.

Wilson races each week at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, North Carolina. Wilson started racing these classes last year and with a year of experience under his helmet, he has started this year off well. Thus far this year, Wilson has one pole, one win and is second in points after three races in the sportsman class. In the late model super truck series he has an outside pole in one race, has two top five finishes and is third in points.

With such solid performances on the track, Wilson is drawing a lot of attention from track officials, vendors at the speedway and other drivers and owners. Larry Lawrence, owner of East Carolina Motor Speedway says, “Ryan is a very talented young man and shows great promise behind the wheel.”

The truth is, Wilson has been turning heads since the age of five when he put his helmet on to get behind the wheel to race go-karts and got his first big win.

The 2006 Nascar Dodge Weekly Series National Champion, Philip Morris, has said of Wilson that he has “lots of raw talent, is humble, but has lots of confidence and it shows when he puts his helmet on.”

When he isn’t on the track, Wilson is a freshman at Randleman High School and enjoys playing his X-Box. His greatest hobby though is racing and at only 15, Wilson has proven he is willing and able to do whatever it takes to become successful in the sport.

To learn more about Wilson and his race team and to schedule interviews, contact Dean Wilson at 336-633-8981, visit www.ryanwilsonmotorsports.net or visit Caraway Speedway Saturday April 28th as Wilson pulls double duty.
