Tough Luck Weekend at South Boston for Stancill
Apr 17, 2007 - updated Apr 17th, 2007 2:26pm
Web posted by Chris Ragle

Mooresville, NC. --

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:4/15/07

It was a weekend Ben Stancill and his DLP Motorsports team would soon forget. The DLP Motorsports team would have a series of highs and lows before driver and team would end the Farmer’s Food 250 in the 30th position out of the race at lap seventy-five.

The trouble started when Stancill and company unloaded the Dennis Performance/Stancill Farms Dodge for practice on Friday, but five laps into practice the team suffered trouble to the engine caused by a an oil leak. This caused the team to roll out the back up car and motor which was a Ford Fusion and would cause the team to miss the rest of practice.

It was a new day and new beginning when the DLP Motorsports team tuned the Ford Fusion to the seventh quickest lap in practice, however, soon after that lap the motor on the Ford Fusion would let go. Luckily the team had fixed the primary motor in the DLP Motorsports Dodge which would now need to be tuned for qualifying without any practice throughout the day. Stancill would rise to the occasion and qualify the Dennis Performance/Stancill Farms Dodge in the 11th position, making him the second fastest rookie in the stacked field behind pole sitter Frank Deiny Jr.

Stancill had the look of a veteran settling in field and making his way to the front as high as the fifth position when motor trouble would finally catch up to the team. This time it put the DLP Motorsports team out of the race just seventy-five laps into the event.

“This wasn’t a weekend I would want to happen again. Luckily I have a hard working team that didn’t want to give up and that goes a long way. I mean sometimes you have motor trouble but to have it happen multiple times in one weekend is a freak thing. I know we are better than where we finished and I think we showed people that and that we will be a team to contend with all season,” said Stancill.

“I know we didn’t have the greatest weekend but I know one thing, I have never worked with a driver that could adapt to some of the things Ben did this weekend. He would just hop from one car to the other and put up the same lap times like the troubles we were having didn’t even phase him,” stated David “Buggy” Pletcher owner/crew chief of DLP Motorsports when asked about his impression of his new driver.

Ben Stancill and his DLP Motorsports team will now turn its attention to the Shenandoah Speedway event as the series heads to the second race of the season. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for this event along with the rest of the Sears Auto Centers Northern Division scheduled races. For more information on these opportunities contact Jeff Goddard with Tex Motorsports Marketing at jeffg1010@yahoo.com, for more information on Ben Stancill visit www.benstancill.com.
