Wintry weather forces cancellation of April 7 program; '07 season opener postponed to April 14

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Langley Speedway

Confronted with weather that was more suitable for Santa Claus than the Easter Bunny — snow, freezing temperatures and generally blustery conditions — Langley Speedway has called off tonight’s racing program and pushed back its 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season opener to next Saturday, April 14.

Next Saturday’s program, AMF Bowling Night at the Races, will include: Crossroads Fuel Service Late Models (75 laps); Med Express Super Streets (50 laps); Peninsula Hardwood Mulch INEX Legends (25 laps); B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); and, Wolf Contracting Wolf Trucks (25 laps). Also, the Kim Jusino, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts, which were slated to run a 20-lapper on April 7, have been added to the April 14 lineup.
Gates open at 1 p.m. and practice starts at 2:30. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 4:15, followed by qualifying at 4:30. Pre-race activities commence at 6:30 and the evening’s first feature event goes green at 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a savings of $5.

Langley Speedway will hold its weekly “test and tune” session on Thursday, April 12. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and practice rounds get under way at 6. Pit admission is $10 with a valid NASCAR, INEX, Langley Speedway or HRKC license and $20 without a current competition license. There is no charge to watch practice from the grandstands.

In the menu on the homepage, click on "Results," then follow the appropriate links. Practice results are posted shortly after the end of each week's session.

NASCAR action continues at Langley Speedway on Saturday, April 21. That evening’s lineup includes: Late Models, Super 8 Motels/Dunkum’s Machine Shop Grand Stocks, E-Z Auto Rental UCARs, Wolf Trucks and MACKA Champ Karts.

A longtime member of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, Langley Speedway is a .395-mile, slightly-banked oval. The track is located at 11 Dale Lemonds Dr., off North Armistead Ave., in Hampton, Va.
