Saluda, VA --

Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are proud to announce that Thurston Spring Service, Inc. has signed on to continue their support of weekly racing at the ½ mile dirt track in Saluda, VA.

Clarke Sawyer, General Manager for Virginia Motor Speedway had this to say about the announcement, "We are so very excited to continue our association with Thurston Spring Service, Inc. and Billy Thurston. We are blessed to be associated with someone of Billy’s caliber. He is a tremendous businessperson but more importantly a tremendous person. Billy has supported weekly racing in the area for many years now and we are ecstatic that he will be continuing his relationship with our speedway."

For the 2007 season Thurston Spring Service, Inc. will again continue as the title sponsor of the Speedway’s VMS Dirt Series, which will once again be called the Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Championship. In addition Thurston Spring Service, Inc. will also continue its association with the speedway’s special events as presenting sponsor of all nine events. Tentatively scheduled are the World of Outlaws Late Models on April 14th and July 20th, the Lucas Oil Late Mode Dirt Series on June 23rd, the MACS Series / USA 100 on August 18th, the Advance Auto Parts Super Dirt Series Big Blocks on May 3rd, the ASCS Mid-Atlantic 360 tour on April 28th and the O’Reilly Auto Parts ASCS National Sprint Car Tour for the 360 East Coast Nationals on May 25-26th, the June Jam Monster Truck show on June 8-9th and the AMA Grand National Motorcycles on July 14th.

“I am proud to continue my association with Virginia Motor Speedway and the Sawyer family. I look forward to this being the biggest year in the tracks history with all the great events they have scheduled. I am equally excited and proud about our continued support of the Dirt Series Championship program, it is a one of a kind program,” commented Billy Thurston, owner of Thurston Spring Service, Inc.

The Thurston Spring Service Dirt Series Championship pits all five of the track’s division’s against each other to crown one overall Champion. A competitor must compete in 80% of the races scheduled for each division with each driver’s best 10 races used to determine an overall Dirt Series Champion. Budweiser Modified driver Bret Hamilton of Powhatan, VA took the crown and the $2000 champions check last season, in yet another tight competition. No Dirt Series Champion to date has won the title by more than three points.

The 2007 season gets under way March 17th with an open practice for all divisions and then officially begins with Opening Night on March 24th.

Thurston Spring Service, Inc., specializing in spring and suspension work since 1911, is located at 314 W. 7th St in Richmond, VA. They can work on domestic or foreign cars, vans, trucks, RV’s and trailers. If you like to do the work yourself, Thurston Spring Service, Inc. also has a parts department that ships worldwide. Thurston’s is a family owned and operated business. To contact them call (800) 892-8981 or (804) 232-8981.
