Radford, Va. --
In 2007 McCreary MotorSports and RBR racecars are joining forces to field a two car team in the Whelen All-American Late Model racing series at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford Virginia.
Debuting as the number 16 will be the 2007 Pistone LTO chassis and ARP Monte Carlo built by Performance Center Racing Warehouse in Statesville, N.C. Jamie Byrd will be driving this car and competing for “rookie of the year” honors.
Jamie has a very successful racing history in mini cup, late model trucks and mod-four vehicles. In 2006 at Motor Mile speedway he won seven times in the very competitive Mod 4 series. He made two preparatory practice starts in the LSMC at Caraway and MMS at the end of the 2006 season just for experience and had surprising finishes of 12th and 15th after having untimely flat tires in both races. At the young age of only 20 he has a genuine racing heritage from his father Ronnie Byrd who has built and raced racecars for 20 years.
Don McCreary will drive the number 15 Marlowe chassis ARP Monte Carlo. This will be his second season in late models at MMS. Prior to this he competed four years in the Late Model Truck series and three years in street stock.
Ronnie Byrd will be the set up and senior car chief technician for both team cars.
Motor Mile Speedway will present this team the opportunity to race on 14 Saturday nights in 2007 in 18 different race events. There will be ten 150 lap events and four twin 75 lap events. Motor Mile is one of the most competitive tracks in the USA with the largest Late Model car count in 2006. Motor mile is a .416 mile asphalt track featuring 15 degree banking in the turns. The modern facilities have grandstand seating for 10,000 and VIP enclosed box seats.
McCreary MotorSports is also planning to compete at selected events periodically at other various tracks in the Carolinas and Virginia.
