15 Year Old Scott Bishop Weighing Racing Options For 2007
Dec 27, 2006 - updated Dec 27th, 2006 10:34am
Web posted by Duane Goins

Spartanburg Lake Bowen SC. --

15 years old & having schedule dilemmas. To only have such problems. But when you are 15 and have won at every level of racing and know that each step has to be forward to obtain your goals, then it does take some thought.

Scott Bishop of Spartanburg SC has just finished up a successful season in the Florida based FASCAR Pro Truck class (www.fascar.org) with a close second place in the points after taking a second hand truck and battling and defeating the likes of the second generation sons of NASCAR drivers with names like Matt Martin, Gill, and Jamie Skinner and other highly financed strong competitors at tracks like New Smyrna Beach, Orlando Speed World and Desoto Speedways in 2007.

"We took a second truck, a Dodge, to go with out Chevy and we may have spread our selves a little thin as far as the points title is concerned. Only time trialing bonus points turned out to be the difference between first & second places, but we had fun and had great runs at tracks we had never seen before."

2007 is just around the corner and being successful isn't quite enough these days. "You have to be seen, and do well, and with all the driver development teams coming along, it is tougher than ever to get that break these days," said the tall, good looking lad from SC.

"David Pearson lives near us, along with Derrick Cope, and others such as Cotton Owens keep up with our results and many people have watched the DVDS of my races, and I am hearing other active drivers knowing about us and we would like to step up in competition for 2007 and go after some of these development drivers and outrun them at their tracks and gain some recognition. I know I can climb a fence faster than Tony Stewart, I just need for him to see it or hear about it! I kind of think I may be faster through the corners too!"

Scott Bishop and his Nightstalker Racing support group are taking a long look at the NC & SC racing schedules for 2007 and would like to step up in competition and take on the highly funded organizations an prove than the driver can still make a difference.

"I have no doubts in my mind that I can beat any of them and all I am looking for is the backing and or the opportunity to help get it done. I proved it in Florida against heavily financed teams am look forward to the opportunity to do it again on another level. It can be a great opportunity for an up & coming business to get on board now for a ride to the top!"

Long time race announcers Duane Goins & Ozzie Altman have expressed their feelings about the talents of the young man from Spartanburg, "I saw Dale Earnhardt come up, along with Ernie Irvin coming to town, the rise of Jason Kellar, Toby Porter, and many others, he is way ahead in age and on the learning curve in racing and this young man also has the demeanor displayed by champions at an early age. He doesn't get too excited or get too low and has been known to fall asleep before time trials, ala a young Richard Petty" said Goins.

"As far as dirt, he had all top 5 finishes in an underfunded crate late model for starters tell me all I need to know," said Altman, a veteran TV broadcaster and journalist that has seen the best in super late model dirt racing. "With the right support, he can be the real deal and I plan on keeping a close eye on him!".

Plans for 2007 include selected Pro Truck events in Fla, with some some big money 4 cylinder races in a car funded by Treadwell's Equipment in Greer SC and some big money Enduro & Renegade stock type dirt races to keep in touch with his roots, dirt racing, where he won races at age 12 and a Championship at age 13 at the big half mile at Gaffney SC. Scott once passed Carly Edwards on the outside for second at Volusia County Speedway in Florida in a $10,000 to win event for strictly stock cars and caught his attention.

A search is also on for a super late model ride at the Collossal II at the Dirt Track at LOWES in April. A good showing there for $50,000 could catch a few eyes. Other selected big money SLM events would not go without consideration.

The main focus is the sponsor search to go late model asphalt racing in the Carolinas, Tennessees and Virginia, to go after, and outrun the Hendricks, Evernhams, Roush's and others looking for the 'next hot thing' and their developmental drivers. Maybe a reference from Matt Martin would be in order, as he may still have visions of Bishop's rear bumper this off season!

This young man has all the makings of a superstar with his good looks and surreal driving ability. The marketing possibilities are endless. To get a closer look at this good looking young charger and contact info, please log on to:
