For Immediate Release: 12/14/06
NASCAR New England, Stafford Motor Speedway’s award winning television program, will return to the New England Sports Network for the 2007 season. NASCAR New England’s return to NESN will mean that all the excitement that is racing at Stafford will once again be available to not only to all of New England, but a nationwide audience as well. “We’re pleased to return to NESN for another season,” said Jack Arute, ABC/ESPN reporter and NASCAR New England host. “By partnering with NESN, we are able to showcase our drivers and their team sponsors to a nationwide audience as well as the whole of New England.”
NASCAR New England aired every Saturday from 4pm to 5pm last season, directly preceding Boston Red Sox games on NESN. NASCAR New England made its 2006 debut on June 3rd, and ran for 15 consecutive weeks. The show received additional airtime with repeat broadcasts in November after the conclusion of the NASCAR New England season, and the show scored well in both Boston and Hartford TV markets.
Last season’s installment of NASCAR New England featured coverage of the SK Modified® and Late Model divisions, with highlight coverage of the DARE Stock division. Plans are underway to include coverage of all five of Stafford’s weekly divisions for the 2007 season during each episode of NASCAR New England. Stafford Motor Speedway remains the only Northeastern NASCAR weekly racetrack that offers weekly TV coverage for its NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series divisions.
“We set about this project during the 2001 racing season with the goal to provide our competitors with a unique tool that they could use to acquire individual team sponsorships,” said Mark Arute, SMS CEO/GM. “As we embark on our second season of NASCAR New England on NESN, and our seventh overall season of NASCAR New England, our teams and their sponsors are being showcased to a nationwide audience, which is leaps and bounds ahead of where we were when we first began the show on local cable access channels.” NASCAR New England will return for its seventh season of coverage keeping its current 60-minute format, with Jack Arute hosting. Stafford’s broadcast team of Ben Dodge and Matt Buckler will call all the action from the booth, with Andy Crane reporting on all the action from pit road and victory lane. The show will be produced by SMS Images & Teleproductions in association with NESN. Stafford Motor Speedway will have further announcements on 2007 air times and dates on NESN, so stay tuned to SMS Online at www.staffordspeedway.com for that information.
