DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Last weekend at the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Awards Banquet in Las Vegas, several race tracks were recognized by NASCAR for their outstanding promotional efforts in 2006. It’s a salute to many of the finest short tracks in North America. The 2006 award winners include:

Diversity opportunity award: South Boston (Va.) Speedway

Outstanding food service hospitality: Twin State Speedway, Claremont, N.H.

Outstanding new track: Southern National Raceway Park, Kenly, N.C.

Outstanding public relations: Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Outstanding Craftsman event night: Bowman Gray Stadium, Winston-Salem, N.C.

Outstanding USG event night: Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, Wash.

Outstanding Dodge event night: I-80 Speedway, Greenwood, Neb. and Adams County Speedway, Corning, Iowa

Outstanding advertising: Magic Valley Speedway, Twin Falls, Idaho

Outstanding newsletter: Lakeside Speedway, Kansas City, Kan.

Outstanding race day communication: Adams County Speedway, Corning, Iowa

Outstanding capital improvement: Altamont Motorsports Park, Tracy, Calif.; Motor Mile Speedway, Radford, Va.; LaCrosse (Wis.) Fairgrounds Speedway; and Elko (Minn.) Speedway.

Outstanding event operation: Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Scarborough, Maine

Outstanding souvenir program: Lake Erie Speedway, North East, Pa.

Most NASCAR-sanctioned events: I-80 Speedway, Greenwood, Neb.

Administrative award of excellence: Thompson (Conn.) International Speedway

In addition to these promotional awards, NASCAR presented its annual “Team Player” awards to the track operators who exemplified the spirit of NASCAR’s weekly racing program. The 2006 “Team Player” award winners were:

Division I: Tom Blackwell, Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Greenville, S.C.

Division II: Kenny Shepherd, Altamont Motorsports Park, Tracy, Calif.

Division III: Jim and Barbara Cromarty, Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway

Division IV: Jim Williams and Bob DeFazio, Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway
