Sprint Cars And Recycler Division (Junk Cars) Added To 37Th Annual Fall Classic Line-Up
Sep 12, 2006 - updated Sep 12th, 2006 3:28pm
Web posted by

Jamaica, VA --

Officials at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway are proud to announce the addition of 305 Sprints cars and the Recycler Division (big Junk Cars) to the 37th Annual Fall Classic presented by Thurston Spring Service weekend, September 22 – 23rd.

The speedway had already put together a strong line-up of events for this year’s edition of the Fall Classic with Round 4 of the Victory Lap Late $25,000 Challenge being moved to the Classic weekend after being rained out on September 1st, so the addition of the two new divisions only adds to the excitement.

“With taking the Classic back to a two day event we wanted to really spice up the show and adding the sprint cars and Recycler’s to the program will do just that. This is also a perfect opportunity for us to take a look at two new divisions that get a ton of support from fans around the area,” commented Track General Manager Clarke Sawyer.

The 305 Sprint cars will run their entire program on Friday night of the Classic which will include hot laps, hot lap qualifying, heats and a 30 lap, $500 to win feature.

The Recycler division (big Junk Cars) will run their 50 lap, $1000 to win event on Saturday evening as the last feature of the night. The speedway will pay back ten spots.

Rules for both divisions can be found on the speedway’s website or by contacting the track Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 4pm.

The Sprints and Recyclers will join the Victory Lap Late Models, Truckin Thunder Sportsman, Budweiser Modifieds, Al’s Auto Parts Chargers and the Dixie Chopper All Americans in the exciting two-day program. The Late Model, Sportsman, Modified and Charger divisions will run hot lap qualifying, heats on Friday and features on Saturday. The All Americans will run heats Friday and their feature on Saturday.

Competitor gates both nights will open at 4pm with spectator gates opening at 5pm. Admission price for Friday night September 22nd is $5 per person, with children 6 and under free. Saturday, September 23rd Adults are $12, Seniors and Military $10, Students 13 – 17 years old $8, Children 7 – 12 years old $4 and children 6 and under free. The speedway offers a $2 discount coupon on the Speedway’s Website, good on any Adult, Senior and Military tickets only. Fans need to have a coupon for each ticket purchased. Coupons will not be accepted for the Friday night activities.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway, an ASA Member Track affiliate, is a 1/2-mile, dirt oval. The track is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
