South Boston, VA. --
After a one week break, South Boston Speedway will return to action Saturday night, Sept. 2 with the running of the GCR presents SunTrust 150.
The first race of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series racing program will begin at 7 p.m.
The featured attraction of the evening will be a 150-lap race for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division. Eight-time winner Drew Herring leads the chase for the Late Model Stock Car Division championship at America's Hometown Track, however, the title is far from wrapped up for the Benson, N.C. teenager.
Jonathan Cash and Owen Miller are deadlocked for second place in the Late Model Stock point standings. The two are only 18 points behind Cash. Eddie Johnson sits fourth in the point standings, just 14 points behind the second place tie.
Nick Smith is fifth in the Late Model Stock Car standings and is trying to fend off late challenges from sixth-place Jon Denning, along with Rodney Cook and Adam Barker, who are tied for seventh in the title chase.
The Strutmasters.com Limited Sportsman Division will also be in action Saturday night in a 50-lap race.
Ten-time winner Bruce Anderson has all but locked up the championship in the division. Tommy Peregoy is second in the division standings and is followed by Danny Willis, Jr.
Also seeing action Saturday night will be the Budweiser Pure Stock Division and the competitors in the touring Aaron's Pro Challenge Series.
Chuck Watkins is the point leader in the Pure Stock Division. Second-place Quain Moore and Lee Anderson, who owns the third spot in the standings, are chasing him.
The drivers in the Aaron's Pro Challenge Series will be competing in their final event of the campaign.
Pit gates will open Saturday at 12:30 p.m. and practice for all divisions will be held from 2:15 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. and qualifying time trials will get underway at 5:15 p.m.
Adult admission for the race will be $8 up to 6:30 p.m. and $10 after that. Youth, ages 10-15, will be admitted for $5 and children under the age of 10 will be admitted free with a paid adult.
