Looking For a Shot at One Great Trophy Todd Bodine No. 30 Lumber Liquidators Toyota Tundra – Toyota Tundra 200 - Race Preview
Coming off a strong run in Indianapolis, Todd Bodine, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series points leader, is one of several Toyota drivers that wants his Tundra in victory lane at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend. Last year Bodine finished third, one spot behind his current teammate, Ted Musgrave. This year, he’d like to grab hold of one of racing’s most interesting trophies, grabbing a Gibson guitar and another win for his Lumber Liquidators team.
“The Gibson guitar is one heck of a trophy,” said Bodine of the unique and traditional trophy awarded by Nashville Superspeedway to their race winners. “Nashville is a good place to race – we finished third there last year, we’ll be looking to improve on that. We’d like to get a win in front of the Toyota associates that’ll be attending the Toyota Tundra 200. We get to meet about 8,000 Toyota team members and associates before Saturday’s race. It will be important to do well for them and we’ll certainly try to get them another Lumber Liquidators Tundra win.”
In last year’s Toyota Tundra 200, Bodine started 15th and finished third. His best start at Nashville is second in the NASCAR Busch Series and his best finish there is last year’s third place in the Craftsman Truck Series. Bodine will be making his seventh NASCAR start at Nashville Superspeedway.
“The concrete at Nashville doesn’t change from day to night. It’s a nice facility and a good place to race – you get to move around a little bit to make the Tundra truck do different things,” said Bodine, who picked up a lot of points in last weekend’s race in Indianapolis. “We had a good points weekend at Indy and I’m looking forward to racing at Nashville.”
Bodine, with three wins to his credit in 15 races this season, leads the championship points race by 182 over fellow Toyota Tundra driver Johnny Benson.
“There’s no doubt I want that guitar this weekend, and there’s definitely no doubt that I’d really like to get Toyota a championship,” said Bodine. “A lot of people are surprised to know that there are over 150,000 Americans that are directly employed or associated with Toyota. I’m sure it would be fun for them to kick off their 50th anniversary of doing business here in the U.S. by nabbing a 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship.”
