Tim Karrick Wins At Linn County, Maintains Lead In NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division I Standings

Daytona Beach, Fla. --

For Immediate Release:Aug. 2, 2006

Tim Karrick maintained his lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division I standings this week, but his rivals are working to close the gap.

Karrick, of Basehor, Kan., finished third in the dirt Modified feature at Lakeside Speedway, in Kansas City, Kan., last Friday. Karrick capped off his racing weekend with a victory at Linn County Speedway, in Pleasanton, Kan., on Saturday The results helped Karrick put a little distance between himself and second-ranked John Allen, who competes at the same two tracks. Allen, of Chanute, Kan., won last Friday's race at Lakeside but finished 11th at Linn County on Saturday, his worst finish at Linn County since he placed 14th in a feature race on May 27. The two NDWS Division I leaders are now separated by a 20-point margin (1,080-1,060), with nine weeks remaining before the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series season concludes Oct. 1. One week earlier, Karrick's margin over Allen was just 16 points. To put the distance in perspective, NASCAR points are awarded on a two-points-per-position scale. Drivers receive 50 points for a win, 48 points for second place, 46 points for third place, and so on.

Elsewhere, Randy Porter, of Easley, S.C., scored his fourth win of the season at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C. Porter advanced one position, to sixth, in the NDWS Division I standings. At Rocky Mountain Raceways in West Valley City, Utah, Nick Parker, of Kearns, Utah, cruised to his fifth Modified win and moved up to seventh place in the NDWS Division I standings. Jonathan Cash, of Oxford, N.C., surrendered his position as the NASCAR points leader at South Boston (Va.) Speedway, by finishing sixth in last Saturday's Late Model feature. Drew Herring, of Benson, N.C., won the race to become the NASCAR point leader at South Boston and move into 10th place on the NDWS Division I leaderboard.
