Crossroads Fuel Service/Sunoco Dealers Late Models Miss Utility 75

Langley Speedway, Coming off of a win the previous week had the team poised to make it 2 in a row. But things would turn for the worst quickly. Coming off of turn 2 during practice another car blew a radiator hose and dropped water in the groove. Wyatt, close behind and at full speed did a great job not to hit the wall. Sitting in the middle of the backstretch another competitor hit the water and slid into Casey. The damages would consist of a busted radiator, duct work, nose piece and bumper bar.

The team went to work along with the help of others to get the car repaired in time for qualifying. Borrowing a radiator that was much larger made the task even more difficult. With only a few minutes to spare the team rolled the car to the tech building to get in line to qualify. The car was a little off, and Casey qualified 8th out of 21 cars. The team worked on the car until race time, trying to make the most of a bad situation.

As the race started the extra nose weight from the larger radiator had changed the balance of the car. By lap 20 Wyatt would work his way into 7th place. As the race progressed, Casey changed his line to compensate for the handling differences. On lap 31, Wyatt made his move to 6th and in 5 more laps moved to 5th. By lap 50 Casey realized that there were other problems with the car. Casey stated “every time I make a run for 4th the car loses power.” While making another attempt to move under 4th place Anthony Warren the car lost complete power on lap 63. Wyatt brought his car to pit lane to the attention of his crew. His crew would discover that something had gone a foul in the distributor. The car hand no current from the distributor to the engine.

After getting out of the car Wyatt stated that he felt he could have gotten to forth or maybe 3rd, but the car kept loosing power. Falling out of this race really hurt our bid in the point’s battle.

Team owner Wayne Wyatt wanted to thank everyone that helped get the car back together after the crash. He also stated that racing is a humbling sport. You go from the penthouse to the outhouse in a week’s time. But the team will rebound and try for its 5th win next week. We have a great group of guy’s and they will bounce back. We would also like to congratulate Mark Wertz on his victory this week.

Casey and Team 29 would like to thank their sponsors: Wyatt Homes Inc., Rica-Sha Hair and Tanning, George Brooks Law Offices, Bostic Electric & CBX Custom Modulars for their continued support.
