South Boston, VA. --

Late Model Stock Car drivers who call South Boston Speedway home fared well Sunday afternoon in the running of the Bailey's 300 at Martinsville Speedway.

Timothy Peters of Providence, N.C., the 2004 Late Model Stock Car champion at South Boston Speedway, posted a victory in the event and collected the $25,000 first-place check.

Peters, 25, is currently running in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, but found time this weekend to return to the Late Model Stock Car ranks and find Victory Lane.

South Boston Speedway regulars collected three of the top four positions in the 42-car field.

"We always know that year-in and year-out, South Boston Speedway features some of the best Late Model Stock Car drivers in the nation," South Boston Speedway General Manager Cathy Rice said. "The results Sunday afternoon at Martinsville Speedway proved just that. We are proud of all of our drivers for their performances in the Bailey's 300."

Peyton Sellers of Danville, Va., the 2005 Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division champion at America's Hometown Track motored to a third-place finish. The 21-year-old Sellers also secured the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division I and national championships this season, posting 15 victories along the way.

Eighteen-year old Drew Herring of Benson, N.C. wound up fourth Sunday afternoon in the Bailey's 300. Herring placed second to Sellers in the chase for the Barkhouser Late Model Stock Car Division championship this season at America's Hometown Track.

Owen Miller of Emporia, Va. gave South Boston four drivers in the top 10 Sunday afternoon by motoring to a ninth-place performance.

South Boston Speedway wound up with six total drivers in the top 20 of the 42-car field at Martinsville with Brandon Butler of Petersburg, Va. finishing 16th and Wayne Ramsey of Amherst, Va. placing in the 17th slot.

Other South Boston Speedway regulars who made the field for the Bailey's 300 included David Triplett, Jr. of Timberlake, N.C., who finished 33rd, Eddie Johnson of Midlothian, Va., who placed 38th, and Jonathan Cash of Oxford, N.C., who was 41st.

These great drivers will return to action at America’s Hometown Track, Saturday Nov. 12 to defend their home turf and a chance at the $15,000 winner’s check for the SoBo 300.

Grandstand gates will open Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. and heat races will get the green flag at 12 noon.

Adult general admission tickets are available at the speedway through Friday, Nov. 11 for a discounted price of $10. Adult general admission on the day of the race will be $15. Youth, ages 10-15, will be admitted for $10 and children, ages nine and under, will be admitted free with a paid adult.
