Web posted by Jeremy Davidson

Daytona Beach, Fla. --

For Immediate Release:(June 13, 2006)

Dick Dunlevy Jr., of New Carlisle, Ohio, maintained his lead in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division III standings this week, after posting his 13th top-10 finish in 13 races this season. Dunlevy, who completes in the Late Model class at both Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway and Kil Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio, kept his top-10 streak intact with a sixth-place finish last Saturday at Columbus. Dunlevy's success at the start of the 2006 season also marks resurgence for the veteran driver and multi-time track champion. In his last six Late Model races of 2005, he managed only one top-five finish. Meanwhile, Scotty Backman, of Parker, Colo., advance one position, to second in the NDWS Division III standings, with his fourth win of the season at Colorado National Speedway near Denver. Backman, who has eight top-five finishes in nine starts, trails Dunlevy by 176 points in the standings, 728-552.

At Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Va., Frank Deiny Jr., of Mechanicsville, Va., finished fourth and second in twin Late Model feature races, to advance two positions in the NDWS Division III standings. Deiny, who has three wins this season, is ranked sixth on this week's leaderboard.

NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series drivers are awarded NASCAR points in each event, along with bonus points depending on the number of cars competing in each feature event. If there are 15-20 cars in a race, drivers receive 10 bonus points; if there are 21 or more cars in the field in a given race, drivers receive 20 bonus points apiece. The NASCAR points leader at each track is ranked in the Division standings, which are based on each driver's best 16 points finishes and can include results from any tracks within the Division. At the end of the season, the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Division champions can win a $25,000 bonus. The Division champion with the highest point total overall is awarded the national championship and an additional $50,000 bonus.
