Taking the Positive; Glass is Half-Full for TMS Racing

NEWTON, NC – TMS Racing is looking at the positives as the 2006 race season roll’s into the summer months. Admittedly, the team struggled through their first three events of the 2006 season and in their last outing they severally wrecked their machine, but despite the poor luck, TMS Racing is pleased with the black, blue, and yellow #35 Monte Carlo.

“We really turned it around going into our forth race of the 2006 season. We finally got our car working really well for that race. We have been very fast since then and we are really pleased with that, we just have to be patient, get this car back together from the wreck and we’ll be fine,” smiled Chris Lewis. Lewis was upset after qualifying for the May 27th 100-lap event at Hickory Motor Speedway. “We were really fast and I just messed up during my second qualifying lap. That put us back in 14th starting spot and you need to start up front to contend for these races, that’s the bottom line,” continued Lewis.

After starting 14th in the 100-lap event Chris had worked his way into the top-10 by the ten lap when he got into the back of a car that had rolled out of the throttle coming off the turn two corner. The team battled back throughout the event, fixing extensive damage and trying to get the car to the finish line. However, just after the halfway point a suspension piece broke in the front end, relegating TMS Racing to a DNF and a 23rd place finish.

“All there is to say after the race was how awesome the crew did, we didn’t loose any time on pit road and I felt like we were positioning ourselves for a great finish even with the damage. We kept working on the car to get it as good as we could for the second half of the race, but the original hit messed up the front end pretty good,” commented Tyler Lewis, crew chief of the #35 Monte Carlo. “We are a great team, we have a great car; we just need the opportunity to be out here each week. However, until some funding is found we will compete on a limited basis and come out here each we as strong as we can. We’re pleased knowing we have a fast car when we can show up, and we’ll take full advantage of that,” continued Tyler.

TMS Racing will work to repair their #35 Monte Carlo and return to the race track by mid-summer for the July 15th 100-lap event at Hickory Motor Speedway. Remember to mark www.tmsracingonline.com as your homepage and keep checking back for updates as to when TMS Racing will definitely return to action. Anyone interested in sponsoring the team is encouraged to contact the team at 1.828.612.4333.
