NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series at Langley Speedway - Hampton, VA

A 100-lap feature for the Crossroads Fuel Service/Sunoco Dealers Late Models tops the bill this Saturday, June 3, as Langley Speedway continues its 2006 NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series schedule with Coca-Cola Night at the Races.
In the addition to the headlining Late Model event, Saturday’s lineup includes: Super 8 Motels/Dunkum’s Machine Shop Grand Stocks (40 laps); Verizon Super Trucks (25 laps); and, E-Z Auto Rental UCARs (25 laps).
Gates open at 12 noon. Practice begins at 1:30 p.m., while time trials get under way at 4. Pre-race activities start at 6:30 and the evening’s first feature race goes green at 7.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Also, there is no charge for military members in uniform. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 — a savings of $5. Skybox seats are $30 each. There is no charge for parking.

Langley Speedway’s weekly “test and tune” session is scheduled for Thursday, June 1. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and practice runs from 5 ‘til dark. Pit admission is $10 with a valid NASCAR, INEX or Langley Speedway license and $20 without a current competition license. There is no charge to watch the practice rounds from the grandstands.
Summaries of Thursday night practice rounds are available on the track's Web site, www.langley-speedway.com. In the menu on the homepage, click on "Results," then follow the appropriate links. Practice results are posted shortly after the end of each week's session.

Langley Speedway has announced the appointment of Bryan Bowyer as the track's interim chief track steward/race director. He is stepping in for Tom Ballos, who has given up the position after just over one full season at the NASCAR-sanctioned facility.
Effective immediately, Bowyer will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the efforts of Langley's officiating team. The assignment will be a familiar one for Bowyer, who held the same post at Langley from 2003 until the midpoint of the 2004 campaign.

Here are a few things to keep an eye on during Saturday’s racing program:
• Casey Wyatt will be shooting for his second straight Late Model victory and third overall. He’ll also be trying to go 2-for-2 in 100-lap contests. He won this season’s first 100-lapper on April 29.
• Ricky Derrick will be looking for his third Grand Stock win in a row. In addition, he’ll be trying to extend his unbeaten streak in qualifying. He has topped the speed charts for all three races this season, setting new division records on two occasions.
• Brian Loving will be gunning for his third straight win in the Super Truck race. In his two starts, Loving has two victories, has been the fastest qualifier for both events and set a new division qualifying record.
• Randy Prillaman will be trying to maintain his unscathed record in UCAR competition. He has been victorious in this year’s first three events.

Langley Speedway’s “Extreme Sports Wednesday” program, which kicked off its new season on May 31, continues on June 7. The lineup features “1-on-1 Drags,” “Time Attacks” (solo runs against the clock) and the ever-popular “Burnout Competition.”
Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the fun gets under way at 7. Pit admission is $15 and general admission grandstand tickets are $8. Kids under 6 are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by an adult.
