John Butler & MBFF Racing
Apr 24, 2006 - updated Apr 24th, 2006 12:51pm

John Butler and Sam Mountjoy love stockcar racing. They visited tracks in Dover, Richmond, Martinesville and Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, Virginia. The Saturday nights spent watching racers in all divisions fly around the oval gave them the idea to get involved in racing for themselves. They needed something to quench their racing passion for short tracks and began playing the simulated pc game NASCAR Racing 2003. It was just what they needed to take them to the next level of fulfilling their dream.

Mountjoy and Butler wanted to run the real thing, but cost was a major factor. Old Dominion Speedway was going to start a new affordable division known as UCARs, which stands for U (You) Can Afford Racing. Mountjoy Butler Family and Friends (MBFF) Racing originated in January 2005. They purchased a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier from a friend. The car was race ready and already had one win to it's credit. The car sports the #34, and is driven by John Butler.

After weeks of fine tuning and hours and hours of practice sessions, the MBFF team was ready for it's first race. John started in the 15th spot in an 18 car field. It would be a 15-lap race. At the conclusion, the #34 was in 6th place, an excellent first race effort. The team continued to win a total of 4 races, with 11 top five finishes. They finished in the top 10 13 times, including a championship in the Victory Lane Graphics four race mini series. They also finished second in points in the Convenience Car Series. Because of the great way the team performed in their first season, they decided to add another car to the fleet for 2006. It will display the #35 and will be driven by Jeff Butler.

The team will be competing in a total of 24 races this season, and on October 24, will race for the Inaugural Virginia State UCAR Championship at Langley Speedway.
